Short Answer 2: When there is an absence of government this is anarchy, and it is often connected to chaos, but it the two concepts ae not always synonymous. It is the belief and practice that no one should be governed or dictated by an authority. This is political chaos and a lack of laws (Mitchell). Traditional forms of government and institutions are abandoned. Anarchy is a political philosophy and social movement that supports a free and unaltered and undictated society (Mitchell). The system anarchy creates would be referred to as anarchical. The international system is a form of anarchy as there is no government that dictates the actions of all nations and that can force a country to do something. However, this does not mean that every country’s government is in a constant state of chaos and that is why chaos and anarchy can be but are not always related; states work together quite well on most issues. Economic issues can occur and the occasional war, but most countries get along most of the time (Mitchell). A way to overcome or discourage troublesome anarchy is dominance which is when one state with power dictates the terms of the entire system. One country can be so powerful economically or militarily that it has the power to dictate the terms of the national system and the other countries go along with it because the leading country is exceedingly powerful (Mitchell). Reciprocity, also known as titfor-tat, is another way to overcome anarchy. With reciprocity both countries cooperate in turns and therefore receive what they need while maintaining peace. Global governance is a movement towards political cooperation of an international basis that serves to negotiate the appropriate response to problems that affect more than one region. Security, peace, mediation, justice, unified standards for trade, and functioning markets are all a part of global governance (Mitchell). The future of global governance in our changing world is the ability to adapt and correlate with the needs of the conditions that are presented by the world at that time. Citizens have a tendency to want to feel safe and secure and often they are fearful of other nations and different authorities. However even in the United States, nations like to feel superior over others and this does not correspond well with the concept of global governance as well as peace and cooperation. There have been improvements in cooperation between regions and countries especially in the midst of the global pandemic today, but I feel that there will always be conflicts and issues that arise no matter the progress that has been made. Through the global pandemic different international regions have come together to combat the coronavirus and to come up with ways of fighting it and reducing its effects; the vaccines that are now distributed to the public were only made available due to the trial and error of many professionals from multiple countries and regions. Even though conflicts have improved, and more peace and justice are available now worldwide than before to people I do not believe that there will ever be complete peace or assurance.
