Answer the following Questions 1. What is the historical relevance of Intramuros?

From when the city was founded in 1571 until the end of the Spanish rule in 1898, Intramuros was Manila. The name Intramuros means “inside the wall.” For 400 years, Intramuros served as the center of the Spanish occupation, originally built to be the residence for Spanish government officials and their families. The building of the now famous stone walls (including Fort Santiago) was the handiwork of Governor General Gomez Perez Dasmariñas. Inside the Fort Santiago, you’ll enjoy a peaceful walk and chill in its gardens and lily pond. There’s a lot to see inside the Fort, like the Rizal Shrine museum. Manila Metropolitan Cathedral-Basilica, better known as the Manila Cathedral, is one of the oldest and most famous churches in the Asia. San Agustin Church, the first church built in Luzon during the Spanish colonial period, is thus the oldest church in the Philippines more than 400 years old.

2. Why do we need to preserve historical landmark like Intramuros? Explain your answer.

we need to preserve historical landmark like Intramuros to protect the history of country to provide information in the next generation. Historic preservation is beneficial to the community by Socially, Economically, Culturally, and Educationally. First socially serve as pride of being Filipino they promote this place in other people or country. Second Economically intramuros is the place world war II because of that there are many tourists that visit the intramuros. Third Culturally the tangible presence of past eras and historic styles is important to be evidence that the event of the history is true. Lastly educationally as educator this place is important they enlighten the people about the history of the church, heroes, war, and Spanish government.

3. Have you ever visited the Walled City? What is your general impression of the landmark?

Yes, landmark is so aesthetic in my eyes it returned the past events of our country I saw different old establishment and church. When I visited Manila Cathedral and San Agustin Church I experience to see the tomb of santo papa and cardinal and different art and stone which has become obsolete. When I visited the forth Santiago I feel frightened because I imagine the life of Filipinos when Spanish civilization and feelings of rizal before he was sentences to death. This place is so ancient and not burden on the memory, but an illumination of the soul as Filipino....
