Description

The Bad Seed Notes

***These notes are the notes taken from the film “The Bad Seed” for the Take-Home assignment (due on the 13th) discussing Rhoda in either Nature or Nurture. These are the examples that I came up with, however, there may be some that I missed*** *For the assignment, take one example from either Nature or Nurture and apply it to a theory or explanation we have learned in class. *2 Pages, APA Format, Double-Spaced, Referencing the Film AND any peer-reviewed sources that are used

Nature: BEHAVIOUR IS RESULT OF GENETICS Christine (Rhoda’s mom) came from a terrible household, and thinks she passed bad genetics down to Rhoda due to the household she was raised in. Mom is serial killer’s daughter - passed down the genetics to Rhoda

Nurture: BEHAVIOUR IS RESULT OF ENVIRONMENT Rhoda is raised in an environment in which her mother “pampers” her Rhoda doesn’t like to take no for an answer, gets everything she wants from Aunt Monica Christine doesn’t do anything about behaviour after she finds out about the shoes (doesn’t believe Rhoda could do something so evil, even if she knows that it is true) Absent and busy father Aunt Monica is manipulative (during part where Monica analyzes Christine about her not sleeping), and Rhoda acts the same way, trying to manipulate Leroy into believing there aren’t any shoes Everyone praises Rhoda and believes she can do no wrong, thinking she’s amazing and brilliant, leading her to believe that nothing is wrong with what she does...
