Abstract Competition is an integral part of innovation; through competition, airline companies compete globally for our business. Asiana Airlines is rapidly becoming a global behemoth due to the utilization of advanced information systems. Asiana Information and Decision Technology (IDT) enables full system integration through a seamless application, Sabre WorkSpace Systems. The use of the system goes beyond the normal scope of what traditional airliners use. The allencompassing system allows seamless integration of information technology (IT) via information systems (IS) enabling management of team airport support, transportation service management, (IT)-convergence-based infrastructure management, and financial support systems. By gathering customer travel data, creating their own Passenger Service Systems (PSS) application, and innovative maintenance system they make the travel experience as simple as possible without the customer never relating out intricate the system is. Asiana Airlines will continue to dominate due to its innovative use of IS, leveraging information gathered from customer travel data, creating a seamless travel experience and decreased aircraft maintenance times, setting an industry standard making Asiana Airlines a superior force in air travel.

The Superiority of Asiana Airlines Airline competition has grown considerably since the first winged airline began in 1913. Competition creates the need to innovate; innovation has allowed society to travel thousands of miles in a single trip. As customers continue to want the best in air travel and Asiana Airlines has now emerged as one of the best airline companies to-date. What allows Asiana Airlines to be a dominant force in air travel? Asiana IDT manages team airport support, transportation service management, (IT)-convergence-based infrastructure management, and financial support systems through a state the art software system developed for Asiana Airlines. Asiana Airlines will continue to dominate over the next ten years due to its innovative use of IS. The use of Asiana IDT, established as an outsourcing company that maintained the information systems for a subsidiary of Kumho Asiana Group, Asiana Airlines, has helped the airline company see tremendous growth. Asiana IDT utilizes (PSS) from Amadeus Altea to connect other airline and companies across the globe. This system allows airlines to make schedules for captains and aircrew, while, allowing customers constant access to their selfmodifiable itineraries allowing more options for the on-demand economy. Using Amadeus Altea allows for Asiana Airlines to integrate its systems with other systems in Asiana Airlines. Amadeus Altea is essential because it allows the customer to have an easy to use system, fluid and in line with other STAR airline companies for ticketing, reservations, and flight tracking services. The system, however, cannot be fully implemented at once across Asiana Airlines due to unforeseen glitches, to mitigate the problem, phase implementation will be introduced across other airports. Asiana Airlines can stay a top contender in the global market due to its IS and how it manages travel agencies. The airline created Sabre WorkSpace Systems built on a Global

Distribution System to connect airliners. This system is easy to use and allows the travel agencies to access the system effortlessly, Asiana Airlines gives this to the agencies, and in return, the agencies are more inclined to recommend the airline to their customers—thus increasing profits. Asiana Airlines capitalizes on the many use cases for smartphones. The airliner allows the customer, through their application, to track lost luggage and receive connecting flight information once arriving at the airport. Mr. Ko, CIO of Asiana Airlines and Senior Vice President of Asiana IDT stated, “to meet [the] needs [of customer satisfaction and demand], even the latest information system (IS) implementation is not enough. It should be a part of an overall business strategy.” Personalization and customization is something most flyers know is limited in scope. However, Asiana Airlines tracks the customers “frequent traveling locations, preferred seats, windows or aisle, even beverage preference…Asiana Airlines tries to offer customized and personalized services”[ CITATION Kim18 \l 1033 ]. In order to store this vast amount of passenger data, the company has their own data center that is equipped with advanced power and network management systems. Having this advanced infrastructure allows them to have forecasting, security and control systems—including a disaster recovery center. To be a premier airliner, it is a must to have top of the line systems that manage a lot of the redundant work; this is a win-win for the customer and Asiana Airlines, efficiency leads to more affordable prices for the customers. Efficient airliner maintenance is the key to keeping aircraft in the sky. An aircraft block (taxi plus airborne) operating cost is $68.48 per minute[ CITATION Air18 \l 1033 ]. When an aircraft experiences maintenance delays this creates more operating cost. Asiana Airlines utilizes the power of AI technology to leverage critical information regarding maintenance logs. The technology allows the information to be saved as a voice or video file to enable a more fluid detailed log for the next technician. Using AI technology has also reduced engineer training times while allowing more efficient maintenance schedules. In air travel there are many things out of the airline's control, Asiana Airlines has redefined the use of the PSS system, but they are also redefining in other areas. By exploiting IS and IT they develop scenarios based on real-world events (i.e., terrorist attack) to increase travel safety and decrease inconvenience and losses. Conclusion As society demand for travel increases, competition amongst airliners will remain fierce. Being a leader amongst many airliners in the world is not an easy task to maintain. Asiana Airlines will continue to dominate due to its innovative use of IS, leveraging information from gathered from customer travel Asiana Airlines created a seamless travel experience and decreased aircraft maintenance times. Many could argue that the U.S. has the best in customer satisfaction and travel, but it is merely not true. American airline companies care more about their bottom line, an example of this is, reducing seat size and space between the seats to increase passenger load. Diminishing a luxury like reducing seat size makes for an uncomfortable travel experience. Whereas, Asiana Airlines creates solutions for passenger complaints and also creates a solution for a potential complaint through research and development allowing superior comfort and customer service while traveling.
