Personal Success Plan ● ● ● ●

Value is 10% of final grade Complete individually Submit on Brightspace Word document or PDF

Assignment Tasks: 1. (3 points) Create a “Semester Plan” that provides an overview of all of your assessments for this term. You will create this by looking at the course section information uploaded in each of your courses. Please see the “Semester Plan Example” on page 2 for an idea of what this might look like (you may use this format or may create a format that works better for you). At minimum, your semester plan should include the following: o All assignments, tests, exams, projects, tasks, etc. o The correct dates labelled for each week of the term o Separate sections for each course you are currently taking. 2. (3 points) Create a “Weekly Schedule” that provides a schedule for all of your typical weekly activities (this must include a realistic amount of time dedicated to your online courses). Please see the “Weekly Schedule Example” on page 3 for an idea of what this might look like (you may use this format or may create a format that works better for you). If you do not have a regular schedule each week, you may choose to create one for one specific upcoming week. *** You can use the templates for planning and scheduling on the following page, or find downloadable versions here: https://algonquincollege.libguides.com/student-survival-guide/study-smart 3. (2 points) Identify two short term goals and one long term goal that you have (make sure to describe them according to the SMART goals format, template on third page). In addition, you should discuss the following for each goal: o What internal and external factors will help you achieve this goal? o What are some potential barriers to achieving this goal? o What is your plan to achieve this goal? 4. (2 points) Identify what you feel will be your three biggest stressors this term (these stressors might pertain to your academic, professional, or personal life). Create a specific plan for managing your stress this term based on the course content presented in class.

Note: This assignment can feel tedious and annoying, I get it! That being said, check out this comment from a former CST8300 student… "One of the things I learned from this course is that organization is the basis for success in school and in a career. Honestly, when I was first working on the Personal Success Plan I thought it was a bit of a waste of time (sorry!). However, I found myself constantly going back to it all throughout the semester. I tracked all my due dates using the semester plan, and I never would have created it on my own. That assignment and my experience this semester have shifted my mindset and I will be creating similar documents for every future semester. I will be applying similar practices throughout my career as well. Staying organized makes completing tasks much more efficient and removes so much stress.

SMART Goal Setting Template Use this template when setting your 2 short term, and one long term, goals. The questions will help you in creating the goals, and how they cover those 5 factors of successful goal setting. Specific

This covers the clarity factor discussed in class, and relates to the level of commitment too ● What do I want to accomplish?

-

-

I want to learn whatever I am being taught in class everyday. More efforts

● What are the requirements? ● What are the constraints? Measurabl e

This is associated with clarity and feedback

-

Not able to talk to my classmates

-

Persistent on Learning Results said

-

Everything is achievable unless you have don’t have urge to get. I am bit late but Goal is so real. Sooner or later I will reach. Yes, I have till now.

● How will I measure my progress? ● How will I know the goal has been achieved? Achievable or Attainable

This relates to both the challenge factor and task complexity, and can have an impact on your commitment if the goal is too easy or too difficult ● How can this goal be accomplished?

-

-

● Is it realistic for me to set this goal? ● What are the logical steps I need to take? ● Do I have the resources I need? Relevant

The relevancy of the goal is directly linked to the commitment, and the challenge factors. If the goal means nothing to you, your level of commitment will be low. High levels of commitment are needed for more difficult achievements. Likewise, if it does not pose a challenge, is this a goal you really need to set?

-

-

Its not my Goal its my dream since a decade which I want to accomplish. It is as cyber crimes are increasing and need to stop or reduce. So my goal is to stop them from doing that crimes.

-

2 years atleast

● Why do I want to accomplish this? ● Is this a worthwhile goal? Why? Timeline

This relates to feedback, clarity, and commitment factors. It may need to be

adjusted if the task complexity is higher than expected – that is ok!

-

End of 2021 Work is in Progress

● How long will this goal take to achieve? ● What is the deadline for achieving this goal? ● When am I going to work on this goal?
