The Perception Process

2 The Perception Process

Perception refers to the set of processes we use to make sense of all the stimuli that encounter every second. Our perceptions are based on how we interpret all these different sensations, which are sensory impressions we get from the stimuli in the world around us. Perception enables us to navigate the world and to make decisions about everything. The perceptual process is a sequence of steps that begins with stimuli in the environment and ends with our interpretation of those stimuli. This process is typically unconscious and happens repeatedly times a day. An unconscious process is simply one that happens without awareness or intention (Boundless, n.d.).

Stereotype Factor

Identifying workplace prejudice is quite difficult as it is usually not based on actions, however, it is based on people attitude either it’s positive or negative these factors may let us understand the truth behind humans behaviors, and knowing the overall organization impression in order to give meaning to the environment around them. Most people intuitively know that pervasive negative stereotypes are tough to deal with. These days we mostly reject overt racism, but prejudice can exert its negative effects in more subtle ways. Threats to social identity people can really harm their prospects for success, particularly for individuals who are already socially disadvantaged (Stereotyping, n.d.). Referring to my attitude in never judge any book by its cover, we tend to make a criminal behavior dispositional attribute of the individual, so we become a part of the problem that is expressed by other’s bad behaviors.

Prejudice Factor The consequences of the prejudices and the behavior influenced by them are similarly varied. Prejudice affects the everyday lives of millions of people across the globe. Prejudice held by individuals unnaturally forces on others who are targets of their prejudice a false social status that strongly influences who they are, what they think, and even the actions they take. Prejudice shapes what the targets of prejudice think about the world and life in general, about the people around them, and how they feel about themselves. Importantly, prejudice greatly influences what people expect from the future and how they feel about their chances for self-improvement, referred to as their life chances. All of these considerations define their very identity as individuals (Prejudice in the Modern, 2020). Since multiple prejudices are present throughout society in a complex way, at minimum, the consequences of prejudice is always presented in subtle, if not more obvious ways, in my opinion People’s acting out their prejudices cause domestic violence, crime, and death. It will be also a major cause of life loss, and personal relationships damaged when people act upon their prejudice. When not acknowledged and confronted, prejudice negatively impacts the lives not only of the victims but of those holding the prejudice. As a result, Prejudice is a baseless and often negative preconception or attitude toward members of a group. Discrimination Factor

Discrimination is associated with negative mental and physical health outcomes, the negative consequences of discrimination experiences results from several processes. These

experiences are more pronounced when discrimination is experienced repeatedly, leading to increased depressive symptoms, poorer physical health, and more chronic illness. Discrimination isn’t just an insult to our most basic notions of fairness, it has also a lot of effects includes physical and emotional impact which will be a result of anxiety, sadness, depression, and a feeling of guilt and emptiness. Discrimination, harassment, and victimization leave the individual confused and broken, and distribute politics between people (ESchooltoday, n.d.). Referring to my experience people who face racial discrimination may regroup with some vengeance in mind against other groups. This can fuel conflicts and social discords. In fact, many conflicts and wars have been started in this way. Conclusion In order to prevent the generation of excessive anxiety one must be able to defend oneself not only against unmanageable aspects of instinctual stimulation, but also against experiencing or recalling potentially traumatic perceptions from the external world. Overall, misperception among people in society cause a lot of impacts which affect the behaviors and leads to major crimes due to anchoring racism around the world.
