REVISION – 21GS4B2- SPEAKING 1. Describe the most fashionable person you know? Bài 1 I’d like to talk about my mother, who is considered as a fashion icon by a lot of her friends. My Mom is famous for her sense of style. She loves the classic style, which means, her fashion is simple, but it turns out to be stylish all the time. Her motto is “Simple is the best” but the way she mixes colors makes people admire. She usually keeps up with the latest fashion and each season, she seems to have a new appearance . Everyone believes that my mother has an eye for fashion; therefore, they often ask her for some advice. She said to me that:” Dressing well is a good form of art”, so, let’s do well, live well and dress really well. Bài 2 Fashion can speak many things about a person, so I usually give notice to the way fashion icons as well as normal people dress, and there is a person that really impresses me with her dressing styles. She is a university classmate of mine, who has been the owner of a boutique for several years, so… there’s no question that she has an eye for what looks good together. I still remember the first time we got to know each other in the first year meeting, when I was immediately attracted by her beautiful face with knowledge of fashion styles and brands, which seemed to be fresh to me at that time. Regarding her clothing items, she prefers the modern style so most of the time, casual clothes such as T-shirts, jeans and sneakers are her choice. However, she never fails to look smart on special occasions. She can mix and match a long dress with high heels to be feminine, or sometimes a black skirt with a leather jacket can be combined for a rock-chick feel. To round off, I will explain why I admire my friend, having the chances to talk with her, I have learnt a lot to keep up with fashion trends. She proves that it is not the designer clothing that costs an arm and a leg, but the ability to combine different items is the key to become a fashionista. Bài 3 Honestly speaking, I want to talk about my beautiful auntie, Mrs. Hoai, who is a business woman. (Reason) I love her style for some reasons. First, it is her smart choice of wearing clothes. (Example) Needless to say, she is very well-dressed and as a working woman, she always chooses classy clothes. She sometimes has some items of accessory as a special feature for her outfit. Although they may be bought in sale season, but my auntie knows how to mix with suitable clothes and then she has a totally timeless look, which I cannot keep my eyes off. (Reason) Second, she has an undeniable alluring style, which does not come from her clothes or accessories she wears on her body but the inborn fresh look

in every situation. (Example) That is the key thing that makes her look exquisite in most kinds of outfit, from designer clothes to casual ones. Whenever I go out with her, I feel extremely proud as my aunt often dresses simple but very stunning. I really admire her style and I wish I can have a good taste for fashion to look stylish like her.

2. Do you think the increase in surveillance in our society is a good thing or bad thing? BÀI 1: It is true that video surveillance has become commonplace in many cities in recent years. While I understand that critics may see this as an invasion of privacy, I believe that the benefits do outweigh the drawbacks. There are two main reasons why people might disapprove of the use of video cameras in public places. The first objection is that these cameras invade our privacy, in the sense that we are constantly being watched by the authorities or by private security firms. Many people find this intrusive and feel that the recording of their movements is a form of state control that curtails their individual freedom. The second argument against the proliferation of CCTV cameras is that they are being used as an alternative to police officers patrolling the streets. If this is indeed happening, then it is unlikely that members of the public will feel safer. In spite of the drawbacks mentioned above, I believe that the use of video cameras to monitor public areas is a positive measure. The key objective of video surveillance is to deter criminals and to prevent crime. For example, petty criminals like shoplifters and pickpockets are less likely to operate in parts of cities where they know that they are being watched. At the same time, when crimes are committed, the police can use video evidence to catch and prosecute offenders. Therefore, in my view, video cameras offer valuable support to police officers, and they make cities safer for inhabitants, workers and visitors alike. In conclusion, it seems to me that we gain more than we lose from the enhanced security that CCTV cameras bring to our cities. BÀI 2: In my opinion it has got two sides. I think that increased amount of CCTV cameras, cokies, RFID tags etc. can be very gainful for us. It empowers ours saffety wherever we are, for example when we are sitting in the park with friends. With increase of surveillance thare is less and less fights in the streets and in public places, bacause people are awake to bolt the consequences. In short sourveillance deters people from commiting crime. It's the first step towards a police state. Secondly - tape from CCTV cameras would be valuable proof , for exmple during

thievery. If shoplifter don't know about cameras inside, we could catch him giving the proofs. If you don't do anything wrong, then you have nothing to fear from surveillance. More surveillance means the police can catch more criminals. They can monitoring your phone calls and work out your exact location. It comes in useful during investigating serious crimes or if somebody just detective. 3. Talk about your favourite movie stars. Why do you like them? What movies were they in? BÀI 1     

Lee Min Ho is a South Korean actor and model He gained widespread fame in Korea and some parts of Asia with his role as Gu Jun-pyo in Boys Over Flowers in 2009 The success of Lee Min Ho’s television series globally established him as a top Hallyu star and a global celebrity In his acting career, Lee Min Ho was successful in experimenting various genres such as romance, comedy, action, fantasy and science-fiction dramas As a child, Lee had hoped to become a professional football player. He was selected for the youth football class of South Korean manager and former professional player Cha Bum-Kun, but an injury during his 5th grade of elementary school put an end to his aspiration Despite hailing as one of the most anticipated series in the first half of 2020 due to its ensemble cast, renowned screenwriter, extensive publicity and more than US $25 million production budget, The King: Eternal Monarch received criticism for its screenplay, direction and performances, leading to lower-than expected domestic popularity in Korea. BÀI 2 Brad Pitt is one of my very favourite actors and I am a huge fan of his movies. He is a famous Hollywood actor and has got several prizes for his superb work in movies. Honestly, he is a good actor who is known worldwide. He is the husband of another famous female actress Angelina Jolie. His full name is William Bradley "Brad" Pitt and he is around 50 years old now. For his excellent performance in acting he has received a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and three Academy Award nominations in acting categories. He has done some film production works as well. He is a fine actor with a natural gift of depicting the characters. Often his performance in movies gets very high applauses and because of that, he was nominated for Oscars more than once.

He usually acts in drama and action movies but his acting varies from the character of a vampire to a war hero and legendary characters as well. I have enjoyed most of the movies acted by him and his performance in movies like Seven, Interview with the vampire, The legend of the falls, 7 years in Tibet, Meet Joe Black was simply excellent. I find him to be a very high-class actor and a superb person with his tremendous activity in social welfare works. All these reasons make him my favourite actor.

4. Talk about your earliest memory. 5. Is it important to remember soldiers who died fighting for our country? Why? /Why not? 6. Is there a day in your country when people remember soldiers who died in wars? 7. Think about advantages and disadvantages of going to work abroad. Would you like to do it? There are many advantages of living and working in a foreign country. However, with the ongoing growth of the number of people working abroad, there have been some negative impacts on cultural lives. In this essay, I'm going to cover both the up side and down side of this matter. Firstly, invaluable work experience and the knowledge about the new culture where you live are two of the many advantages you will get from working abroad. With the professionalism from the workplace, you can enrich your expertise. For example, Asian software developers who work in Australia have the opportunities to improve their English level and their software related knowledge as well. Next, the new culture that you have to adapt yourself into will help you have a new picture of what is happening outside your country. On the other hand, negative impacts also exist along with the positive points mentioned. Employees who work abroad tend not to go back to their home countries, thereby leading to the increase of brain drain in those countries. Without skilled workers, the countries which are normally developing countries will not be able to develop at the same pace as they could have. Moreover, if this trend happens so quickly, it would result in the explosion of immigration in immigrant countries. In summary, working abroad seems to have both positive and negative impacts. The positive side is that skilled employees have opportunities to improve their expertise and study new cultures. The down side is that the countries where the workers come from will have less chance to develop quickly. Based on the discussion, I personally think working abroad should be encouraged but it should be strictly moderated and controlled by the government

Do you think men and women are better at different jobs, or equally good at all jobs? Give reasons. Sample Answer 1: Whether men and women have equal capacity to do any job or the type of work they do should be based on their natural features and inherent abilities is a widely debated issue. While some believe that both genders have an equal aptitude to do any sort of work, others, however, deny it. This essay delves into the issue and then draw a sensible conclusion. A group of people opine that men and women are not physically much different. Apart from that, men and women possess the same natural abilities, thinking patterns, emotions, needs and instincts. Since women are kept mostly inside houses, they react differently than men in different situations. If both men and women are given equal opportunity and experience, they can both handle any job with the same efficiency. Thus, this group of people deny that any particular gender is better prepared for a job than the opposite gender. For example, they say that in the past, women were deprived of education, job and other social activities, and because of that, the number of women in higher corporate positions was fewer than that of today's number. Another group, however, remains strict to the fact that men and women have different physical and mental capacities and these capacities make them more suitable for different types of professions. For instance, a woman is a natural caregiver and hence nursing is a more suitable profession for her. On the contrary construction works, one example of such many professions is suitable for men. In conclusion, tasks for men and women are determined mostly by their natural abilities and this is a natural law. Denying it would not be a good idea and in my opinion, no task is less important and thus distinctive professions makes them perform better. Sample Answer 2: Whether natural aptitude should determine the kind of work both men and women should do or they are capable of doing the same type of work is somewhat controversial and require thorough discussion. This essay will explain both aspects. However, I believe that both genders are qualified to take the same challenge and are capable of doing similar jobs. From one perspective, women are generally considered physically weaker than men and hence less suitable for jobs that require ferocity and physical power. Men, on the other hand, are meant to provide and protect their wives and the entire family and earn the living. Secondly, the caring nature and tender heart that women possess make them more capable of certain careers. This means they generally perform better in occupations that require patience, caring and kind heart such as nursing, social works and teaching. From the opposite perspective, modern society does not discriminate against genders and offer any type of work to both male and female due to its fairness and advancements. Women and men who go to the same university and take the same training programmes are equally prepared to take a job. Again, the traditional idea that women will take care of their children while men will earn the living is changing and a reverse scenario could be seen in many families. Finally, women, in almost all fields, have already proved that they can perform as good as men if they are given the

opportunity. So there is no way we can undermine their capability. In conclusion, although being naturally endowed may be beneficial for both genders in some situations, it is not particularly needed at workplaces. Learning and training are indispensable for men and women in any society to work for the same jobs.

8. What could you do to make your lifestyle healthier? I think people who live healthily always have one thing in common: they manage to strike a balance between work and life, between exercise and diet. Even when you’re too busy, try to do some exercise or have some entertainment. You don’t need to go to the gym and spend 2 hours doing physical activity. Maybe just a small break from work and some stretching exercise is enough to keep you fit and healthy. Nowadays, more and more people suffer from a sedentary lifestyle so we always have to remind ourselves not to sit too much. Diet is also very important. I know food can be very tempting but try to stick to healthy food, food that you know is hygienic and carefully prepared. Of course, once in a while, we can give ourselves a nice little treat, like the cheese pizza I had yesterday. Drink a lot of water too, as water accounts for 60% of the human body weight and is key to effective metabolism.

9. Think of three things the local council or the public should do to help the environment where you live?

A: In my opinion, they should make more incentives for people to learn about how they can help at an individual level. If they could educate people and make more rules about recycling or using plastic bags, then perhaps we would see a difference. I read in the news recently about how Kenya has passed a law, making it illegal to use plastic bags. In the UK they have a price for a plastic bag. But maybe this type of law, making them illegal should be implemented everywhere. The governments should unite and work together to combat these problems before it is too late. On one hand, governments could reduce air pollution in many ways. First, they could introduce laws to put a limit on factories’ gas emissions or force companies to use renewable energy in production. Second, they could also innovate the public transport system to become more convenient and greener. By this way, governments can encourage people to take public transport instead of driving, therefore reducing emissions.

10.Think of a famous poet from your own country. How much do you know about their life and works?

Nguyen Du, in full Nguyen-du Thanh-hien, pseudonym To Nhu, (born 1765, Tien Dien, Vietnam—died Aug. 10, 1820, Hue), best-loved poet of the Vietnamese and creator of the epic poem Kim van Kieu, written in chu-nom (southern characters). He is considered by some to be the father of Vietnamese literature. Nguyen Du passed the mandarin examinations at the age of 19 and succeeded to a modest military post under the Le dynasty. He served the Le rulers, as his family had done for generations, until their dynasty fell in 1787. Nguyen Du was for a period associated with efforts to restore the Le to power, but, unable to achieve this goal, he withdrew to the mountains of Hong Linh near his native village. When in 1802 the new Nguyen ruler Gia Long succeeded in uniting the country and called Nguyen Du to court, he reluctantly obeyed and subsequently held many official posts. While serving in Quang Binh in northern Vietnam in 1813, he attained the rank of Column of the Empire and was subsequently appointed head of a delegation to Peking. During this mission he translated a Chinese novel, dating from the Ming period, into Vietnamese poetry as Kim van Kieu (English translation by Huynh Sanh Thong, The Tale of Kieu: The Classic Vietnamese Verse Novel; 1973). As an exploration of the Buddhist doctrine of karmic retribution for individual sins, his poem expresses his personal suffering and deep humanism. He also wrote “Words of a Young Hat Seller,” a shorter poem in a lighter vein; Chieu hon (“Address to the Dead”); and many other poems in Chinese rather than Vietnamese. Nguyen Du was assigned to two other ambassadorial missions to Peking; before he was able to depart on the last one, however, he died of a long illness for which he stoically refused treatment.

11. What are popular holiday destinations in your country? Why do people go to these places? A one-time French colonial port on the central coast, Vietnam's thirdlargest city is also home to some of the country's best beaches. And it's got a little something for everyone, from the bustling beaches located a short drive from city to the more secluded spots for those keen on adventure. Fans of water sports can visit My Khe Beach, the closest beach to the city center and a world-renowned favorite for surfing, snorkeling, and jetskiing. Meanwhile, those who prefer some privacy can hop on a motorbike to the untouched Tien Sa Beach on the north side of the Son Tra Peninsula. Other nearby attractions include the stunning Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is home to Son Doong, the world's largest cave.

12. Do people from your country go on holiday abroad? What destinations are popular?

13.Plan your ideal holiday. Make notes about: + What kind of holiday would it be? + Where would you like to go? + How would you get there? + What type of accommodation would you stay in? + What would you do on holiday? Model Answer 1: Having a perfect vacation is many people’s dream except, of course, they don’t know how to have it most of the time. However, over the years, if I have learned one thing about enjoying a perfect vacation, it can be achieved only if we don’t worry too much about the word “perfect”. After all, it is the very ‘stress’ of planning a perfect vacation that takes the fun away from it. But, since I will have to put the discussion of this topic into proper context, I am bound to name the spot of my vacation which could be anywhere from visiting an isolated island, far away from the rest of the civilization, to a beautiful mountain site close to a nice lake, depending on the time of the year. But, since I prefer to enjoy my vacation during the summertime, I would preferably choose a mountain site. To be honest, my perfect idea of a vacation doesn’t include anything fancy except enjoying some good jokes and laughs with my family members and friends while forgetting about the worries about our worldly life for a while by lying at the feet of the mountain. While I am enjoying my vacation there, I want to be able to fully connect to mother nature which has fed us and taken care of us even though we have done so much harm to it for the last few centuries. Frankly speaking, I don...
