AFFILIATIVE LEADERSHIP “Scenario 1: As a manager, you have two employees who have a difficult time working together. While nothing specifically unprofessional has been done by either one of them, other team members have expressed concern that the differences between them are causing tension, and some other team members are having difficulty performing their work. Some have even gone so far as to say that the situation is causing a hostile work environment.” Affiliative Leadership Style At a workplace it is important to use leadership styles that help in promoting peace. When there is harmony in this environment the workers are bound to grow feelings of being part of the workplace (Preston, Moon, Simon, Allen, & Kossi, 2015). In the given scenario, this type of leadership is more applicable since it is worth noting that the conflict that ensues from both employees will at some point cause them to develop trust issues which will in turn affect the company’s profits leading to loss. In every organization every department has a role to play however, human resources stands out as an important department that holds the company together. This department becomes a strong pillar most especially when they are able to adhere to the vision and goals set by the company and propel the rest of the workers towards achieving the mission. Therefore, it is important for the manager to implement strategies by which he is able to calm the storms created by employees in order to have a SWOT analysis that is strong and positive. Elements of Affiliative Style that are Helpful in Resolving the Problem and How the process will be Carried Out The leadership style that is based on affiliative concepts is built upon different concepts that make sure that the different workers in an organization are able to forge a relationship that is

AFFILIATIVE LEADERSHIP founded on the principles of peace and unity. Therefore, in order to solve the problem that has risen between the employees in the scenario the element that ensures the promotion and nurturing of interactions that are friendly between employees can be utilized. This element is wholly dependent on establishing the core of the problem in order to be implemented, and as such, reaching to the core of the issue will need the use of a different element which calls upon the manager to have the ability of valuing the various employees at the company and promote a positive attitude by which they can speak out their issues (Preston, Moon, Simon, Allen, & Kossi, 2015). The sharing enables the manager to understand the different situations that can affect different employees and therefore availing him with the capability to use the element that remains of the style used. This last element will be developed because the manager can forge a base on which the employees are able to have personalized relationships amongst themselves and also provide him with the ability to grow a concern for the employees wellbeing and be able to offer help in future in case of a disagreement. With these elements the manager can have the tools to help him in coming up with a solution to the problem and foster a better relationship among the two employees. Since the focus of resolving the issue between employees is to create an environment that is conducive for carrying out the different tasks, those in a conflict should solve their squabbles in the presence of the others. How does the role of leadership in the decision-making process serve to establish an organizational climate oriented to meet business goals? Every leader in all the organization should have skills that enable them to be decisive in their decisions. Being able to make the right decisions enables the leader to hold a position that enables them to run the organization’s operations effectively and also deal with any issues that may rise within the company (Bolman, & Deal, 2017). Having a focus that is directed towards

AFFILIATIVE LEADERSHIP the growth and achievement of the set goals is an important attribute for any leader. For example having skills that enable a quick response to situations and making the right decisions can make them use the challenges that the company may face to improve the production and profits of the organization. It is the duty of a manager to carry out a risk analysis of the company, and when they are effective at making decisions they can change a misfortune to a fortune for the company. In order to achieve the set goals, it is important for the human resource to have a conducive environment that forges motivation. Hence, a manager who is effective and efficient will create an emotional attachment with the employees to their duties and ensure that the company’s profits are met through increased production. Being able to make decisions that are effective and skilled, a leader will motivate their staff especially by rewarding their efforts. This makes the employees to feel valued because their contributions have been recognized. .
