Description

6-2 Discussion: Planning Your Presentation Keeping the mix of stakeholders in mind, each with their own specific interest for the company expanding into anew market, is key to a successful presentation. I will start by compiling a list of individual stakeholders that will be my audience, and what each person’s interest or involvement in the new venture is (Duarte, 2012). To tell the story well, I would use a presentation platform I am familiar with (PowerPoint), and use slides to primarily display charts and infographics that are visual, and make the data easier to understand in a shorter period of time (Duarte, 2012). By preparing well for the presentation and having speaker notes available to provide details to support the visual slides, I would be able to authentically deliver the presentation to the interested parties (Duarte, 2012). To stay relevant, the list of stakeholders and their individual interests in the new venture for the company will be very helpful in helping me determine what kind of data would be most useful to illustrate. For example, investors will likely want to see how the investment in a new area of business will earn more money for the company and poise us for further growth. An environmental regulator may primarily be focused on how our company may further impact or lessen impact to the environment. A marketing manager will want to know what customers want so they can make plans for how to sell the new product based on that information. In summary, knowing who my stakeholders are, and what they ultimately want from the new market venture is the most crucial step in preparing the presentation.
