Chapter 1: Wilbur is very dependent in this chapter. He needed Fern, not only to be fed and looked after, but also literally to survive. Without Fern saving him, his story would not have continued. Chapter 2: Wilbur became adjusted to the daily pattern of being a pet pig. He understood the feeding schedule, and looked forward to seeing Fern. He was still very much a baby though, as he would sleep often and get carried around. Chapter 3: He became more interested in life around him, and often found himself bored with nothing to do. He began to develop more into his personality, and even became a bit mischievous. Chapter 4: Wilbur branched out more and developed his own daily schedule, and enjoyed looking forward to his plans. He realized the importance of love and friendship, and decided it was something he absolutely needed in life. Chapter 5: Actively seeking friendship, Wilbur meets Charlotte. He addresses her with polite manners, but still has a child-like view on everything. Chapter 6: Wilbur was only mentioned once or twice in this chapter, but I would assume he is still relatively at the same stage of development. Because it was summer, Fern was able to visit more, which might have attributed to some growth. Chapter 7: Wilbur grew significantly, eating several large meals each day. He learned things from Charlotte, and also worried about the possibility of dying. It is clear that he has grown a lot mentally, because he was very aware of the idea of death. Chapter 8: Wilbur was also not really involved in this chapter, as it was mainly a discussion between Fern and her family....
