A nonreversible type of dementia that progresses over many years; widespread neuron (3) degeneration leaves gaps in the brain’s messaging network that interfere with communication between cells
Moderate- fluent aphasia, increased disorientation, impaired recognition, poor judgement, difficulties comprehending, trouble performing ADLs, aggression, restlessness, sleep disturbances, psychosis, dysphoria Severe- unable to use language appropriately, memory only to the moment, need assistance with all ADLs, urinary and fecal incontinence
