Concept: Wong-Baker Faces Scale Pain Scale A pain scale measures a patient's pain intensity or other features. Pain scales are a common communication tool in medical contexts and are used in a variety of medical settings. Pain scales are a necessity to assist with better assessment of pain and patient screening.

Complications:

Assessments: Facial expressions: Frowning, grimacing, distorted expression, rapid blinking

Interventions: Perform a comprehensive assessment of pain. Determine via assessment the location, characteristics, onset, duration, frequency, quality, and severity of pain.  Use nonpharmacological pain relief methods o Relaxation exercises, o Breathing exercises, o Music therapy 



Insomnia can be a complication of chronic pain or a cause of chronic pain. Pain causes more anxiety



Pain responses are unique from each person and some clients may be reluctant to report or voice out their pain unless asked about it. Provide measures to relieve pain before it becomes severe....
