CONDITIONAL CLAUSES / IF CLAUSES First conditional  indica uma condição real ou provavelmente verdadeira Ex: If he runs, he will catch the train. If I have enough Money I will buy the tickets.

Second conditional  indica uma condição irreal ou improvável no presente Ex: If he ran, he would catch the train. If I had enough Money, I would buy the tickets.

Third conditional indica uma condição irreal ou impossível no passado Ex: If he had run, he would have caught the train. If I had had enough Money, I would have bought the tickets.

OBSERVAÇÕES: 1) UNLESS significa “a menos que” ou “a não ser que” e substitui “IF ... NOT” Ex: She will get a low mark UNLESS she studies hard. She will get a low mark IF she doesN’T study hard. They will be lat UNLESS they hurry. They will be late IF they doN’T hurry. 2) WERE é usado em todas as pessoas após IF se o verbo forcTO BE Ex: I would buy the flat if I WERE richer. She would buy the house if it WEREn’t so small. 3) Podemos expressar condição sem IF, nesse caso, usamos WERE ou HAD (+past participle) no início da oração Ex: WERE I richer, I would buy the flat. HAD e run, he would have caught the train. 4) HAD e WOULD têm a mesma abreviação Ex: If he had invited me, I would have have gone to the party. I he’d invited me, I’d have gone to the party....
