What are the decision-makers’ responsibilities and authority? ● Dickens and Puyanic are partners with each other to open an Urgent Care Center.

What

What are the main issues/problems? ● In the first story, Dickens and Puyanic had opened a UCC in Hampton, New Hampshire. Although they believed that ConvenientMD could coexist with the city’s largest healthcare provider, Hampton Hospital, and it was clear that the CEO of Hampton Hospital felt differently. Dickens and Puyanic wanting to establish a positive affiliation with Hampton Hospital, they scheduled a meeting with the CEO. Hopeful about to get the way for a better relationship, Dickens, and Puyanic were stunned when the CEO greeted them with open hatred. ● In the second story, Dickens and Puyanic were trying to find a location for a UCC in Pelham, New Hampshire. Dickens and Puyanic had an excellent opportunity to find a place with cheap and a lot of people around. According to a member of the local zoning board, a site that had previously been described as unavailable was now offered to Dickens and Puyanic. But According to the board member, the site would be theirs if they take the right steps.

Why

Why have the problems arisen? Why is/are the decision-maker(s) involved now? To the first story, the problem arisen because of the coexist of Hampton Hospital. They feared that the UCC would take away their customer, and the CEO of Hampton Hospital did not like the idea of some random guy just come into his town and take away money in his pocket. The decision-maker wants to have a friendly relationship with the CEO so they can help each other in the future. ● In the second story, the problem arisen is because of the legal fee was too high, and they could not get anywhere with a high volume of



people at a lower price. So they forced to work with the lawyer to get the zoning board to approve. The problem has arisen because the decision-maker wants to find a perfect place for their business.

When

When does/do he/she/they have to decide, act, or resolve these? ● When the decision-maker see that they had caused a problem with the Hampton Hospital, they decided to meet up with the CEO of the hospital for the hope that they will get a better relationship with them. ● When the decision-maker finds out that they could get an affordable building and turn it to a hospital, they quickly and willing to spent the money to get it done before someone takes it.

How

What is your task as the decision-maker(s)? What information is relevant? Missing? As the decision-maker, the task would be to create a good relationship with the competitors, for hope with a friendly co-exists who would not create any problem or fake news to damage the reputation of both places. ● For the 2nd story, the task would be to find the best choice for the company, making a quick decision not to missed an opportunity to gain benefits for the company. Even though it would be a significant risk, but as a decision-maker, we would need to weigh the cost compared to the benefit.
