There are many different ways for someone to express their identity. People more often than not tend to associate identity with only a name. Names do help with identity, but culture is a more in depth way of understanding one’s true self and identity. Culture is the way that people live their lives. People use culture to pass down beliefs, traditions, and knowledge to the younger generation. Culture can consist of music, art, language, religion, and even food. Each of these elements will vary depending on the culture. African Americans have a very diverse culture and also popular culture in today’s media.
