B. During the lesson The teacher will present and discuss the lesson with a Canva presentation. Question: What is “Pattern”? Pattern is a repeated form or design especially that is used to decorate something. If something happens in a regular and repeated way, there is a pattern. The teacher will create a connection from the definition of Pattern to the main topic, Patterns of Idea Development. There are four (4) Patterns of Idea Development: Cause and Effect, Claim and Counterclaim, General to Particular, and Problem and Solution.

CAUSE AND EFFECT This pattern presents an analysis of reasons for, and/or the consequences of an action, event, or decision. It attempts to show how events are influenced by or caused by others or what we call as causation. CLAIM AND COUNTER-CLAIM This pattern is commonly used in writing arguments. A claim presents what one thinks is true about a topic based on knowledge and research; a counterclaim disproves the claim with reasons and evidence. GENERAL TO PARTICULAR This pattern is commonly used in answering essay type tests, introducing a paper, giving background to a research paper, or opening paragraphs for discussion. It is written in a manner where the topic is moving from a broad observation to specific details in support of that topic. PROBLEM AND SOLUTION This pattern presents information through an expression of a problem, dilemma, question, or a concerning issue that can be, or should be solved or remedied. C. After the lesson The teacher will utilize Kahoot to see if students understand what pattern is through a paragraph identification activity. The students will choose which among patterns on the options does the paragraph follows. 30 seconds is given to answer each item.
