Description of Procedure Non-invasive test in which a technician trained in ultrasound imaging will use a small hand held device (transducer) press against your skin over the area being examined, moving from one area to another if necessary. The doppler c estimate how fast flood flows by measuring the rate of canage in its pitch (frequency)
Indications may be indicated for suspected: Blood clots poorly functioning valves in leg veins Heart Valve defects and congenital heart disease Blocked artery Decreased blood circulaion into legs Bulging Arteries Narrowing of an artery
Interpretation of Findings results will depend on what part of the body was tested if results were not normal they could indicate: blockage or clot in artery narrowed blood vessels abnormal blood flow aneurysm can show abnormal blood flow in unborn baby
Potential Complications no known complications safe during pregnancy

Nursing Interventions (pre, intra, post) Give client education about procedure before, no special care during unless pt requires positoning, no post procedure care
Client Education Advise Client test will take 30-60 min no smoking 2 hrs before, smoking causes vessels to narrow and can affect results for certain types you may be asked to fast several hours before test
