Therapeutic Use Etoposides work by slowing the growth of cancer cells. It used to treat certain forms of lung cancer
Complications Nausea, vomitting, diarrhea, dizziness, tiredness, weakness, changes in taste, loss of appetite, and pain or redness at the injection site, low white blood cell count, low platelet count, hair loss
Medication Administration In tablet form by mouth IV
Contraindications/Precautions Contraindicated in those with a bad infection, low amount of albumin proteins in the blood, excess body acid, decreased function of the bone marrow, anemia, pregnant, breast feeding, or severe kidney impairments
Interactions
Nursing Interventions Check IV site during and after infusion, monitor vital signs, perform blood tests (cbc, AST, ALT, serum bilirubin, LDH, BUN).monitor platelet count
