EXERCISE 1: PERT DIAGRAM A. Below is the list of activities for systems development project at Wangia IT Expert Sdn. Bhd. 1. Approval system request (activity A) is the first task that needs to be completed. It requires the team to carefully look into the specific request and decides whether the request meets all feasibility test. This task takes 10 days to complete. 2. Conduct fact-finding (activities B) and prepare development strategies (Activity D) can start when activity A is completed. The team takes 30 days to complete activity B because they have to conduct interview and distribute survey to the users. Activity D is crucial for the team to decide on whether they can go for software outsourcing option or in-house software development. The duration of the Activity D is 50 days). 3. Activity C is related to the preparation of system requirement analysis. This activity needs to be completed in 15 days and this activity depends on the completion of activity B. 4. Activities E (create data flow for business process - duration of the task is 10 days) and F (develop functional decomposition diagram - duration of the task is 30 days). These activities start when Activity B is accomplished. 5. The team needs to investigate software acquisition option (activity G). This task takes 7 days to complete and it starts date depends on the completion of Activity C. 6. The task for investigating the software acquisition cost (activity H) takes 18 days to complete but it cannot begin until Activity D is completed. 7. The duration for preparing the request for systems quotation (activity I) is 10 days). Activity I depends on the completion of activities G and H. 8. Finalising system requirement document (activity J) need to be completed in 15 days). This activity cannot begin until activities E, F and I are completed.
