Part II. TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION I.

Rationale: With this program, we may increase access to fresh foods and herbal plants.

Improve food security, increase physical activity through garden maintenance activities, improve dietary habits through gardening, increase risk of obesity and obesity-related diseases and improve mental health and promote relaxation. Gardens have been important aspects of many cultures in history. In the past, community gardens were commonly used to provide food for families year-round. There is a need to inculcate and deepen appreciation among the youth the importance of agriculture not only in our economy but also in our life. This is the main reason for the implementation of the Gulayan sa Tahanan Program. The Gulayan sa Tahanan Project targets to widen the knowledge of the public about the importance of having a good health. To hit this target, it is essential to have gardens in our surroundings so that there would always be available source of nutritious food for our children and so that they will also learn and experience agri-business despite of your age. The gardens will serve as source of additional vegetables for home consumption, especially that the initiative aims to raise awareness on the health and nutritional benefits of vegetables, as well as its economic benefits by encouraging more household and community gardens. And we are hand-in-hand in promoting a green community in Barangay Bula and other communities.

II. Objectives: 1. To promote home vegetable production. 2. To create and maintain gardens as a fully prepared vegetable source to meet daily needs. 3. To instill the ideals of gardening, good health, labor love, and care for others in the learners and the community.

III. Review Of literature According to Food tank (2020), home vegetable gardening can not only enhance produce consumption and physical exercise but is also linked to improved emotional wellness. Home gardening has a similar effect on emotional well-being as biking, walking, or dining out, according to a new study from Princeton University (2020). It was the only activity in which those with modest earnings reported the highest emotional well-being out of the 15 examined. According to Hillside Atlanta (2019), gardening reduces melancholy, anxiety, obesity, and heart disease and promotes personal happiness, quality of life, and a feeling of community. According to a study conducted by Eng et al. (2019), the most significant advantage of gardening is enhanced social capital and connections. The effect of children working together to plant and construct something significant is a more vital link between them. Gardening with children can be a bonding relationship, according to Lehman (2013), when it is pleasant and stress-free. On the other hand, Better Health (2013) noted that by gardening as a family, adults might share their skills and expertise with youngsters, and family members can learn together.

IV. Methodology To introduce new methods for sustainable growing and production of vegetables in the new normal school setting. It also aims to establish school gardens to serve as additional source of funding and small-scale production models to be replicated in the household. The project aims to improve the nutritional and economic status of the students through different methods of growing vegetables at school to be extended in their homes, as well as encouraging parents and other stakeholders’ participation for the said purpose. The team will monitor and evaluate the workshop/project progress to realized changes as per the target objectives of the project. The project team will develop monitoring and evaluation tools. In every stage of implementation, the team will monitor and evaluate the progress. Monitoring will mostly be based on resources allocation to implement activities. The project team will make follow-up on relevance and timely allocation of inputs while they will evaluate the result attained from the project implementation. Apart from their main objective to spread the mangrove forest cover, the project encompasses the generation of income and employment opportunities for the community of the selected geographical area through youth-led activities.

The idea is to enable the proposal to be submitted for possible funding opportunities to empower and engage youth and give them ownership of the proposed project and its outcomes. We believe this will provide young people the opportunity to build their capacities and conceptualize ideas into implementable models to initiate gardening 1. Gardening burns a lot of calories. 2. It can lower your blood pressure. 3. Spending time outside is good for your bones. 4. Growing your food can help you eat healthier. 4. Gardening can relieve stress. 6. It can provide a source of community. V. Work Plan Schedule WORK PLAN OF ACTIVITIES NO. 1 2

VII. Project Summary “Gulayan sa Tahanan” is a multi-beneficial program even in the new normal. It is a community-wide benefit for all, as it will not only touch on the physical attributes but also awaken the mental and psychological attributes of the youth amid the COVID-19 situation. Community gardens help families reduce pandemic-related economic losses by supplementing their diets with nutritious foods. Community gardens are more than just great places to cultivate vegetables. They also serve as spaces to cultivate social support and emotional well-being. Joining a community garden allows for the opportunity to increase one’s social interactions and gain a sense of social connectedness and commitment to the community. Participating in community gardens has also shown to provide individuals an increased sense of control and agency over the type and quantity of food they decide to grow. Gulayan sa Tahanan aims to promote home vegetable production. To create and maintain gardens as a fully prepared vegetable source to meet daily needs, to instill the ideals of gardening, good health, labor love, care for others in the learners and the community. The needed budget will be P 515.00. The gardens will serve as source of additional vegetables for home consumption, especially that the initiative aims to raise awareness on the health and nutritional benefits of vegetables, as well as its economic benefits by encouraging more household and community gardens....
