Jarabek 1 Jordan Jarabek Sumana Jogi Introduction to Speech Communication 27 March 2021 Informative Speech II Reflection For my second Informative Speech, I chose to present over how marriages in the 60s and today differ from each other. I chose this topic firstly because I find it very interesting to look at how our cultures shift over the years and in turn influence the way we as a society get married. I chose to look at two major ways that marriage of the 60s is different than marriages today. The first topic was the legalization of same-sex marriage. The second topic was discussing how the median/mean age at first marriage has gone up when compared to that of the 50s and 60s. The first thing I wanted to work on more impactfully in this speech was my tone and delivery. In my last informative speech, I got several comments about how my speech and information was great, but I was lacking in tone and diction. I tend to get nervous with speech, recorded or in person, and so It has taken me a lot of work to improve my tone of voice and inflection. I feel that I did a lot better in this second informative speech than in the first one. I also feel that I improved in citing my sources verbally. Getting better feedback from the IUPUI speaker’s lab helped me tremendously. For this speech, I think I lacked in my speed and delivery. I think certain transitions and breaks may have been oddly placed and so they were not as affected as they could have been. I am planning to work on this more for my Monroe speech. I also could have added a bit more information or statistics in my speech, as I felt like I was going too slow so I could meet my time requirements better....
