INFORMATIVE #1 PREPARATION OUTLINE Name: Bryce Christensen Session: CMST 1110-(Section 18) Title of your Speech: Post Malone Organizational Pattern: Topical General Purpose: (To inform) Specific Purpose: To inform my audience of Post Malone by covering three topics of his life. Central Idea: The three topics of Post Malone I will be informing my audience of are: Post Malone’s life before he was famous, how he became famous, and his life now after becoming famous. Introduction Attention Getter: As most of you indicated on my in-class survey, taken on March 10, 2020, you know of Post Malone and the majority of you believe that he is one of the more famous artists of today. Importance: He is a very popular artist, and if you are not interested in him, at least you’ll be informed of someone who is relevant in today’s culture. Credibility: Through the research I have conducted, I’ve learned a lot about his life. Preview: In this speech, you will learn three topics of Post Malone’s life: his life before he was famous, how he became famous, and his current life. Body I.

The first topic I will be covering is Post Malone’s life before fame. A. Post Malone’s early life is of nothing crazy as some of you might think. 1. According to a biography titled: Post Malone on the website, top40charts.com, accessed March 7th, 2020, He was born in Syracuse, NY, July 4th, 1995, as Austin Richard Post which 60% of you didn’t know according to my in class survey taken on March 10th, 2020. 2. Post Malone was raised by his father and stepmother. His father was a disc jockey which was how Post Malone was exposed to a multitude of music genres. 3. He moved to Grapevine, Texas, when he was nine years old. a. Post Malone credits his interest in learning to play the guitar to the game, Guitar Hero which lead to him auditioning for a band, but was rejected because his guitar strings broke. 4. In high school, he worked at Chicken Express, and was voted most likely to become famous by his classmates. After high school, he enrolled in Tarrant County College but ended up dropping out. B. Also according to the biography from top40-charts.com, After dropping out, Post moved to Los Angeles with his friend Jason Probst. 1. There, he and his friends formed a group BLCKVRD, they recorded music together, and moved in together which is how he met Rex Kudo who ended up producing dome of Post’s work.

Post Malone became famous through an app, which is not surprising in today’s life. A. In August of 2015, Post Malone uploaded his song, White Iverson, onto SoundCloud which many artists use in the beginning of their career. 1. The song got much praise. Wiz Khalifa, and Mac Miller actually tweeted Post Malone with their praise. 2. In Post Malone’s own words from an interview conducted by Ogden Payne, titled Inside the Hidden Success of Post Malone, published in Forbes Magazine on February 3rd, 2017: “I can remember the song having 7,000 plays, and I was so happy about that.” 3. According to a biography titled: Post Malone, on the website, top40charts.com, accessed March 7th, 2020, Post Malone signed a recording contract with Republic Records in August of 2015. B. In 2015, Post Malone toured with Justin Bieber as an opening act which also helped start his career. 1. Also according to a biography on the website, top40-charts.com, he performed at Kylie Jenner’s birthday party in 2015. There, he met Kanye West which led to him and Kanye collaborating on the song Fade. 2. Following the tour with Justin Bieber, collaborating with Kanye west, he began releasing more music. a. In 2016, his single, Go Flex, was first premiered. He later performed it on Jimmy Kimmel which is considered his national television debut. After Go Flex, Post Malone released his first album, Stoney. b. His first album, contained his first top 10 hit on the billboards 100, “Congratulations.” Which only 13% of you guys were fans of according to my in-class survey conducted March 10th, 2020. The album eventually became double platinum in 2017.

After becoming famous, Post Malone has an entire new life. A. According to the from an interview conducted by Ogden Payne, titled Inside the Hidden Success of Post Malone, published in Forbes Magazine on February 3rd, 2017 he planned on opening a tattoo shop in LA, but I was unable to find proof that he actually did. 1. Before applying it to the pottery, make sure it is well-mixed. B. This year, Post Malone has done some things he hasn’t done before. 1. He appeared in the Dorito’s commercial for the 54th Super Bowl, and according to an article published January 27th, 2020, in the Rolling Stone magazine by Tim Chan, he’s been eating Doritos forever, and loves spicy things which is why he agreed to become the new face of Doritos. 2. Also, in the Rolling Stone article, in Post’s own words, “I hope to have a record out for the fans in 2020” 3. On Netflix, he co-starred with Mark Wahlberg in the movie Spenser Confidential, which only got 40% on Rotten Tomatoes, but I thought it was pretty good.

3 Conclusion Signpost and Summary: In conclusion, today we covered three topics of Post Malone’s life: his life before fame, how he became famous, and his current life. Importance: Even with the coronavirus pandemic, 2020 could still be a good year with the potential release of yet another album from Post Malone.
