Introduction: Attention Getter: By a show of hands how many of you are planning of having children in the future? Now what if one day your child (God forbit) has autism and it starts affecting the way he or she speaks and communicates. You as a parent would do everything and anything to help your child have a better life. Connect Topic to Audience: Throughout the years we have seen how autism has affected many children at a very young age. Autism does not only affect the body or mind of the children but also, the way they speak and communicate to others. As individuals of this world we need to know the effects that autism have towards speech and commination, so we know who we are coming across in daily day bases. Connect to self and Earth Charter: Section 3 number 9 letter “b” of the Earth Charter states, “Empower every human being with the education and resources to secure a sustainable livelihood and provide social security and safety nets for those who are unable to support themselves.” As a Speech Pathologist major, I will educate my audience about what autism is and ways to empower those individuals so that they can have a voice. Preview: Today, I will be discussing on autism, its effects on speech and social communication, and sustainability of autism.
