General purpose: To persuade my audience Specific purpose: Female athletes deserve the same pay as their male athletes that are doing the same sport Central idea:Female athletes are being paid less than male athletes when they have the same qualifications in the same sport, therefore there isn’t a reason to why females shouldn't be getting equal pay.

Introduction A. Attention-getter: If we as an society continue to let these wage gap between male and females athletes continue it would lead to more protests and even boycotts on these teams, and even potentially lead to chaos in the sports world and our ordinary everyday life. B. Thesis statement: There is a huge wage gap between female athletes and male athletes when they have the same qualifications in the same sport, therefore there isn’t a valid reason why female athletes aren’t getting equal pay.

C. Credibility Statement: Though female athletes are under paid they still show great team sportsmanship and remain confident and strong when it comes to continuing to play regardless the situations. As a woman I can understand because I know how it feels to be deprived of something because of my sex to why I choose to speak on this topic. D. Preview Main points: Female athletes not getting paid the same as their male athletes despite having the same abilities and are playing on the same level. What are reasons to why female athletes get paid less than male athletes. Explain why equal pay amongst female and male athletes is necessary. Body A. Female athletes all around the world are putting in as much work as male athletes and have the same qualifications and yet still greatly underpaid by 20% from male athletes, and they shouldn’t be when they are putting in all the work.

Female athletes have the same degrees and experience as for the same profession rather it be in playing soccer or basketball and there is still that huge wage gap. 2. They work as equally as hard for their positions as male athletes. Both females and males are working the same hours week and have the same exact jobs. One example was according to Forbes in the WNBA top salary was $117,500 while for the NBA $37.4 million. In the National Pro Fastpitch softball team was $175,000 and the Boston Red Sox team salary cap was $227 million.

B. There are many reasons and causes to why there is a wage gap between male and female athletes. 1. In the sports world they look at women which they view to be different of men. They look at men to be more physical capable or to be more muscular and that they put in more work. 2. There is also this idea about the sex that plays a role. C. It is necessary for female athletes to get the same pay when they have been dedicated to what they do not to be recognized for it. 1. Besides being dedicated to their work rather on the field or court a lot of female athletes are mothers who also put in a lot of works at home. When it comes to caring for their children, in which caring for children is entirely another stressfully job on top of that having to work their butts off on the field, and still work as twice as hard as man and pushing themselves knowing how tired they are. 2. A lot of female athletes also own their side businesses like male athletes. Also take photoshoots and do different collaborations with different brands as male athletes. That goes to show that women and men are doing the same thing and that there is no real reason as to why women and men are not being paid the same.

Conclusion Female athletes are greatly under appreciated and this tells by the salaries they earn. They are not getting the recognition they deserve based on their talents and this can lead to discouragement for young and upcoming female athletes. As a society we should advocate more for female athletes to get equal pay that they deserve by holding protests, boycotts from going to games, through the power of social media to spread the concern of the wage gap. If we stand as one anything can be done and this goes even further and beyond....
