Give a definition of philosophy. Philosophy is the field of study that tries to understand the reasons or basis for things and how things should be.

What are the main branches of philosophy? The branches of philosophy are : metaphysics , epistemology , ethics and logic What are the general questions of philosophy?

The general questions allow us to study problems from a philosophical perspective i.e to get an intellectually stimulating discussion and touches on a lot of different aspect of a given problem. We can mention :  How material and ideal correspond?  Are there objective truths?  Does life have meaning?  Do we have free will?  What should we do?  What is the nature of our identity as selves?  Must our knowledge and understanding stay within fixed limits?

What is the difference between Western and Eastern philosophy?

Western philosophy is referred to as the school of thought from Greek philosophy that influenced the greater part of Western civilization. In contrary, the Eastern philosophy is based mainly in Asia, more specifically the Chinese philosophy. The Eastern philosophy is drawn much more into groups or society or people’s in order to find meaning in life. In contrast, the Western civilization is more individualistic, trying to find the meaning of life here and now with self at the center as it is already given and part of the divine....
