Part Two: Short-Response Questions
Identify a theorist, summarize their theory, and explain the aspects of that theory that relate to one of the three perspectives: biological, psychological, or social. Support your answer with a credible source. I chose Maria Montessori I enjoy reading her books and apply a lot of her teachings to my own children. She was a known physician and educator that developed the Montessori theory. Her theory approaches learning development and the key principle is Independence. “Dr. Montessori believed that children learn better when they’re choosing what to learn, and that philosophy is present in Montessori classrooms today.” (Meinke, 2019) The Montessori theory in my opinion relates to a psychological perspective because it’s directly linked to decision making.
Select one theorist and explain how their theory applies to your own learning development and lived experience. Once again, I have to choose Maria Montessori. I am not a child but I am fiercely independent when I am learning something new. I enjoy choosing what I like to do and how I will learn it. Though, much like Albert Banduras theory I can also learn a lot through observation.
