Description

Concept Map Disease and pathophysiology Borderline personality disorder is a cluster B personality disorder characterized by instability in self concept, self esteem, moods, and relationships. Borderline disproportionately affects young women. Borderline is associated with EDNOS and bulimia. Many patients with borderline have a history of rape or sexual abuse. According to researchers Chapman, Fleisher, and Jamil, “The pathophysiology of borderline personality disorder is likely a combination of genetic predisposition combined with early childhood environmental factors and neurobiological dysfunction” (2019).
