Description of Attribute If you’re to lead a team, you need to be able to have great confidence and belief in yourself. You need to be able to understand yourself know your different strengths and weaknesses, skills, attributes and experience. As a leader, you must be able to see where you want yourself and the team to go clearly. You need to know your exact goals and how you are going to achieve them to get to where you want to go. You must have loyalty to your team and the members within it. You must be able to put in the hard work and the large amount of hours to get to where you want to go no matter what, going beyond the expected. Being a leader means you should be someone for your team members to look up to. This meaning your values and beliefs should not change when challenged or approached showing a good strength of integrity. New ideas are always good to move forward and make progression. Therefore, a good amount of creativity is needed within the team leader to come up with some new ideas to push for progression. A great leader should not be on and off with their performance and the work they put in. they should also hold their core values to keep people’s opinions of them consistent to keep up good business. It’s important to think of new ideas but not just any ideas. Ideas need to be new and not thought of before, thinking outside of the box to stand out from the rest by using their own innovative as an individual. responding to this is one great value of a team leader. Making the change which could be anything like maybe group activities to create some fun in the workplace can push that progression forward. A great team leader should have their authority and have it well known. Members should know who is in charge and not to challenge that authority. If ever possible, groups should all decide on a leader for their group and have an election. Having someone elected for the role would create legitimacy in the work place and know they are wanted as leader. They should be charismatic, inspiring the members of the team and have a charm of making them get their work done. They should not stand down and should be coercive when needed, giving orders and not being afraid to give punishment and threats when needed. Description of Skill The leader needs to be able to identify objectives to clarify what the rest of the team needs to do to succeed and to reach the teams goals. To raise the level of achievement within the team, the leader could possibly set up team activities and events. These events could help the group gel more to allow them to cooperate. The leader can also have reviews with the individuals to show them how they’re getting on wand what they can do to achieve more and perform better. The leader needs to be able to see and understand the outcomes that were against the targets. The leader should be able to review these and can see what went wrong and what they can do to prevent this next time. Good leaders should be well ahead if what they’re doing at the time. Everything that the team do should be planned and be done well in advance to allow for error and to correct them errors if they occur. This also allows for everyone to know where they are each day and be prepared.

Organisation is needed within the teams to allow the team to carry on working efficiently without having to look around for everything they need. If the tram cannot find things they need to work, they won’t be able to complete work in time and could take them longer than needed. The leader needs to be able to put certain tasks that have the most importance first to complete. Some tasks don’t need to be completed as fast so making sure certain tasks are done first is a vital skill The leader needs to be able to take control of situations and have complete control over the team they are leading. If they cannot control their own team, they will not be able to progress very far and reach goals. Having a schedule of all the different tasks that need to done is very important. The team leader should state deadlines for their team to complete work on time and keep them on track. The leader can set milestones to motivate individuals in the team. Each member could be set their own milestones whilst the whole team has them set to motivate them all and individually. Each team member will have their own responsibilities, as so the team leader. Keeping track of responsibilities of everyone is important to delegate work correctly to the people who have the right skills. The team leader needs to be able to be accountable for things they have done and for what their team have done. They are the ones leading the team and are responsible for what happens and what they do. If events turn up and other tasks take priority, the leader needs to use their organisation skills and reschedule their targets and objectives to later dates. Leaders need to be able to move things around to fit everything in so all tasks can be completed. The team leader needs to be able to keep all the team members motivated. done through rewarding them to make them want more. The leader should be able to review how well the team work together. Doing this, they should weigh up what they do well and what they could possibly do better to work more effectively. The leader needs to delegate and check the responsibilities of individuals in the team. As people progress in the team, they deserve different responsibilities. These needs to be overviewed by the leader to apply these responsibilities. The leader of the team needs to be able to resolve conflict within the team effectively and fast to prevent the team from failing and crashing. If there is ongoing conflict within the group, there will be bad performance issues within the team as people will not want to work together. Using the right person for the right job is very important. Different people within the team will have different skills, meaning they can perform certain tasks better than others can. Utilising this and using this will allow for better performance and higher standards of work. It’s important to manage these aspirations of the staff to remind them of why they are doing what they’re doing. It will help to keep their drive and the company’s growth and drive as a whole. Knowing each individuals aspirations will allow better relationships creating cohesion For everything to run smoothly within the team there needs to be assertiveness.
