1. It is the period where paradigm shifts occurred. It is where the scientific beliefs that have been widely embraced and accepted by the people where challenged and opposed. The term Intellectual Revolution is used to refer to Greek speculation about the "nature" in the period before Socrates (roughly 600 to 400 BCE). Hence, the alternative, technical terms are "pre Socratic" or "non-theological" or "first philosophy". Bear in mind that the "philosophy" in question has little to do with ethics, and much more to do with what we would call physics or logic. There are three characteristic features of this form of speculation. First, the world is a natural whole (that is, supernatural forces do not make things 'happen'). Second, there is a natural 'order' (that is, there are 'laws of nature'). Third, humans can 'discover' those laws. 2-3. Isaac Newtonchanged the way we understand the Universe. Revered in his own lifetime, he discovered the laws of gravity and motion and invented calculus. He helped to shape our rational world view. He s best known for having invented the calculus in the mid to late 1660s (most of a decade before Leibniz did so independently, and ultimately more influentially) and for having formulated the theory of universal gravity. Sigmund Freud is considered to be the founder of the psychodynamic approach to psychology, which looks to unconscious drives to explain human behavior. Freud believed that the mind is responsible for both conscious and unconscious decisions that it makes on the basis of psychological drives. Freudian revolution may be viewed as the discovery of a way of locating in the mind objective entities which can be studied like physical things. Freud described that the brain can be segmented into compartments. Sigmund Freud’s books became the hallmark of psychoanalysis. Charles Darwin “The Darwinian Revolution.” He explained that all life on Earth is connected and related to each other. Also, this diversity of life came about because of the modifications in populations that were driven by natural selection.  Reply  https://tip.instructure.com/courses/14567/discussion_topics/192717

1. The intellectual revolution had changed the way people perceive the influence of science on society in general. It focuses on three of the most important intellectual revolutions in history: Copernican, Darwinian, and Freudian. By discussing these intellectual revolutions in the context of science, technology, and society, the attention of students is drawn again toward the complex interplay of the various social contexts and the development of modern science.

2. Isaac newton, Sigmund Freud and Charles Darwin.

- Nicolaus Copernicus (Copernican Revolution) - Charles Darwin (Darwinian Revolution) - Sigmund Freud 3. Articulate the ideas postulated by the three scientists. - Nicolaus Copernicus was an astronomer who proposed a heliocentric model. According to this model, the planets orbit around the Sun; that Earth is a planet which, besides orbiting the Sun annually, also turns once daily on its own axis; and that very slow changes in the direction of this axis account for the precession of the equinoxes. - The mechanism that Darwin proposed for evolution is natural selection. Because resources are limited in nature, organisms with heritable traits that favor survival and reproduction will tend to leave more offspring than their peers, causing the traits to increase in frequency over generations. - Sigmund Freud's contribution to the field of science is his school of thought known as "Psychoanalysis." He postulated that there are many conscious and unconscious factors that can influence behavior and emotions and argued that personality is a product of three conflicting elements: id, ego, and superego. Although his school of thought was criticized by many, the psychodynamic therapies that treat a myriad of psychological disorders still remain largely informed by Freud's work on psychoanalysis.  Reply 

Darwinian revolution remains an acceptable phrase to describe the change in thought brought about by the theory of evolution, provided that the revolution is seen as occurring over an extended period of time. The decades from the 1790s through the 1850s are at the focus of this article. Freud's revolution may be viewed as the discovery of a way of locating in the mind objective entities which can be studied like physical things. It is that common challenge rather than a popular exemplary model, such as mechanics or hydraulics, that shaped Freud's theory. 3. Articulate the ideas postulated by the three scientists. The Scientific Revolution was aided by several notable individuals, Copernicus chief among them. He was among the first to inquire into the nature of the stars since the times of Greece and Rome. Using the Scientific Method, he tracked the stars and created a model for the Solar System. Freud and Darwin weren't part of The Scientific Revolution, but they did revolutionize human thought. Freud introduced Psychology and Psychiatry, and is often referred to as the father of Psychoanalysis. He was the first to analyze Human Thought and to deconstruct the Human Condition, trying to find scientific connections between actions, thoughts, events, and relations. Darwin is often known as the father of Evolution, the father of Biology, or the father of Zoology. All titles are justified in their own way. Until Darwin published his research, the scientific consensus on the origin of living creatures was either that they were always there, or that some God or Deity put them there. Darwin revolutionized human thought by introducing perhaps the most important principle in the Modern Scientific World, the Evolutionary Principle; survival of the fittest has made it's ripples in all fields of science, from Physics to Economy, from Chaotic Systems to Chemistry. Darwin, with his simple rules and principles, managed to explain almost all natural phenomenon, mainly the origin of Species, but also the origin of galaxies, Star Systems, Mountains, and Capitalism. Darwin didn't know of it in his own time, and his rules did require a few corrections by his successors, e.g. Survival of the Strongest,Survival of the Fittest, but he is one of the most important scientists of all time. I think the most astounding part about Darwin's story, is that he was perhaps the first nonphysicist/Mathematician to cause a scientific revolution, opening the gates for other sciences to claim their independence from Physics and Math. https://tip.instructure.com/courses/14567/discussion_topics/192717

1. Define intellectual revolution. In its broadest sense, the Intellectual Revolution pertains to the development of intellectual ideas. It has influenced politics, religion, and cultural institutions by impacting people's views about the world. Because of the continuous development, the perception and beliefs of people changed -- showing how society was transformed by science and technology. With this, the Intellectual Revolution has shown the interaction and relationship between science, technology, and society together with its development. https://tip.instructure.com/courses/14567/discussion_topics/192717

geologist; and Sigmund Freud, an Austrian neurologist. 3. Articulate the ideas postulated by the three scientists. COPERNICAN REVOLUTION by Nicolaus Copernicus A few years before the Copernican Revolution started, Geocentrism was the mainstream belief of people. This is a concept believed by Ptolemy, stating that the Earth is at the center of the solar system. In the 16th century, this idea was challenged by Nicolaus Copernicus, introducing Heliocentrism -- which suggested that the Sun is at the center of the solar system, and not the Earth. As soon as several works that supported this idea emerged, it got eventually accepted by the public. It also gave answers to issues that Geocentrism could not explain. DARWINIAN REVOLUTION by Charles Darwin Charles Darwin introduced the Theory of Evolution which highlights the concept of "Survival of the Fittest", stating that organisms have the ability to adapt to their environment and become more competitive to survive. It was previously rejected by people because they believe that life came from our Creator. Eventually, people came to understand that Darwin's idea was not against the church. FREUDIAN REVOLUTION by Sigmund Freud Sigmund Freud introduced Psychoanalysis which explains human behavior. This involves the many conscious and unconscious factors that can influence the behavior and emotions of an individual. He also stated that there are three conflicting elements that result in a person's personality, known as the Id, Ego, and Superego.  Reply 

He published his book entitled, "The Origin of Species", which presented evidence on how species evolved over time and presented traits and adaptation that differentiate species. -PSYCHOANALYSISSigmund Freud contributed to the field of science is his school of thought known as Psychoanalysis. First, the oral stage, where the child gets its satisfaction from the mouth, second is the anal stage, the child undergoes toilet training, third is the phallic stage where the child develops complexes (Electra Complexes -the girl is attracted to the father and Oedipal complex- the young boy is attracted to the mother), fourth is the latency stage where the child focus is on educational learning and last stage is the genital stage, where there is a recurrence of the sex organs as the source of satisfaction.  Reply 

Charles Darwin- Darwinian has bought a great impact on how people approach biology forever. This revolution provided a difference from the theory of Creation. The Darwinian revolution started when Charles Darwin published his book The Origin of Species that emphasizes that humans are the result of evolution. Sigmund Freud- Freudian theory has started to revolutionize Psychiatriatry with Sigmund Freud. This includes the Freudian Theory of Personality that involves development contributes to his/her personality and also his Psychoanalysis that is the process for achieving proper functioning if a human does not complete his/her developmental stage.  Reply 

Repositioned the earth from the center of the Solar System and introduced the idea that the earth rotates on its own axis. The model illustrated the earth, along with the other heavenly bodies, to be rotating around the sun. CHARLES DARWIN- In his book The Descent of Man, he introduced the idea of all organic life, including human beings, under the realm of evolutionary thinking. His unorthodox way of pursuing science gave more value to evidence-based science.
