Topic 3 Managing Your GCU Experience Directions: In order to gain insight into your community and college experience, answer the following questions. Record your responses to all questions on this document (the boxes will expand should you require more space).

In your community, what are the social and professional organizations specific to your program? How likely are you to join one of these organizations? Which one interests you the most, why? (Minimum 100 words total)

I am currently living in the state of Virginia where we have a very high military concentration. My community has a huge growing money maker, the old retired military population who needs nigh nurses, elder sitters, and other medical care. I am also near one of the biggest naval hospital as well. Some of my areas of interest are getting into the elderly care program as that is highly lucrative, I was told. I already did the military now my next focus of interest is getting into the military hospital system, for my next job as my degree path is perfectly lined up for advanced patient care in a hospital setting.

Set and share a goal for how you will become involved in your community or social /professional organization. Discuss how involvement in these types of groups could positively affect you as a student/employee? (Minimum 100 words total)

I have my goal all set up to complete my degree my year end 2020, I need 48 credits to complete everything, then I will be job hunting. For most jobs they like to ask about your community involvement during the interview, one way I can better align myself is to get involved with one of the community outreach programs, preferably one that deals with taking care of or feeding elderly people. This volunteer work can help to set you above other people who do not give up their free time freely. Getting involved with the community will give me a better understanding of the religions of people as different care is required for various religions, I heard that some religions do not accept a blood transfusion. This local knowledge of the people I will be serving should help me to be the best health care

professional once I get a job. What do you need to achieve academically to be successful in the future? Are there any GPA requirements, volunteer hours, or employment experience associated with your future career that you learned more about or that you would like to learn more about? (Minimum 100 words total)

Utilizing the gcu.edu website, locate and explain the following: (Minimum 100 words total) ( www.gcu.edu )

To achieve academic success, one must first make the effort to get accepted into a school, which I have done, now I just need to stay focus and try my best to stay on the schedule to graduate next year-end. Community involvement plays a part because we must give back to the community also our local employers like to see proof of your volunteerism. GPA requirement is a big part of getting employed but most employers will take your experience over someone with a better GPA and no experience. I think my experience as a medic in the military will give me a better job advantage over my pears with no experience and no military background. Overall, I just need to be knowledgeable in my field of studies and prove my worth during an interview to successfully land the job.  GCU Mission and Vision: The vision is basically telling us that GCU is a Highly recognized Christian school that is making every effort to change our society educationally.
