Belvedere Place Development Ltd.i 1. Using the concepts on p. 332-33, what leadership traits best describe Kelsey Ramsden? Provide examples to back up your answer(s)? -

I believe that Kelsey Ramsden portrays a solid self-confidence that contributed to the success of her company. As when the global recession hit in 2009, many earthmoving companies pursued government work and increased the competition for Belvedere Place Development. Kelsey made a critical decision to reinvent her business to acquire a new client base. With her rational decision, Kelsey shows that she is willing to take measurable risks in order to pursue growth for her company. In addition, Kelsey Ramsden has a keen job-relevant knowledge to the new market when she began working for private subdivision developers. Kelsey hired a business development manager right away, knowing that she does not have the sufficient skills to secure private sector clients and compete against other private developers. For private sectors is based on working and social networking among clients. This proves that Kelsey is fully aware that with no prior experience in dealing with private sectors and knew that she needed a professional to build strong relationships with potential contractors to be able to succeed in this new market.

2. Apply Figure 11.3 placing Ramsden on the grid. In which quadrant(s) did you place her? Apply the two variables (concern for people, concern for production) to justify your answer. - I would place Kelsey Ramsden as a country club manager on the grid for she prioritizes her support system of people that works for her. For instance, with the outstanding increase of revenue, Kelsey was able to secure employment for her 70 heavy-equipment operators and invested in training for an improved development for the company (Schermerhorn & Wright, 2014).Kelsey values her workers the most for she believes that her business became successful due to the right workers and their dedication. In addition, Kelsey fits the country club manager for she focuses on creating valuable relationship and networking with others. As an example, Belvedere Place Development portrays an astounding reputation by creating serious prospects to its banks and bonding company. In venturing private sectors, Kelsey hired a professional team manager to assist her with new potential private clients. As people person, Kelsey still shows importance of production, by reassuring with the bank that her potential clients are credit-worthy and are able to pay them. This shows that Kelsey Ramsden portrays the qualifications of a country club manager for she values people the most and secure production for her company.

3. Apply Figure 11.10 to evaluate Ramsden’s emotional intelligence. Select at least 3 qualities of emotional intelligence, and assign a rating of weak, moderate or strong to each of these competencies for Ramsden. Explain your ratings. -

I believe that Kelsey Ramsden has a strong self- awareness because despite completing her MBA at Ivey School of Business, she is fully aware of her capabilities and its extent. Such as when she expanded into private- sector projects, she humbly accepted that she has no knowledge of this certain field and quickly hired a professional to assist her business. Kelsey also has a moderate high-social awareness for she consistently secures her business by having credit-checks among potential clients for her assurance that they will get paid. Lastly, I would not rate Kelsey Ramsden any weak qualities for she is a strong independent woman and she represents what true strength is when she beat cervical cancer. With her survival against cancer, Ramsden still continued to run her business despite the long distance from Kelowna, B.C. Moreover, she displays a solid persistence and motivation that the others should follow to maintain a success business in the market....
