Special investigation: “Mexicans blue helmets”

Mexico triples Blue Helmets In 2015, it started in the Peace Missions with 4 troops, currently there are 14, including 3 women. Fourteen Mexican military elements - three of them women - currently participate as blue helmets in the Peace Missions of the United Nations (UN), thus strengthening the presence of Mexico at the global level, which began in 2015 with only four troops, informed the Foreign Ministry. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), the elements are distributed as follows: four in the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), one in the United Nations Multidimensional Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) and nine in the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia. Through the request for information 0000500017918, the federal agency explained that there are three military women working in these missions, within the framework of the 105th anniversary of the Mexican Army. Until February of this year there have been no reported injuries or deaths among Mexican troops. The international security expert, Íñigo Guevara y Moyano, explained to El Heraldo de México that our country's contribution to peace operations occurs in three phases. The first is the sending of observers, it is estimated that some 80 people (not blue helmets) have participated, since 2015, in the missions of Haiti, Lebanon, Colombia and Western Sahara. The second (which is under development) is the start-up of the Joint Training Center for Peace Operations in Mexico, to be inaugurated no later than 2019. The objective is to train soldiers, sailors, police and civilians to "contribute to peace operations in a more substantial manner, with a battalion of between 400 and 600 soldiers"; That is the third phase. The participation of the elements of our country represents "important benefits for the Mexican Armed Forces, in terms of experience in the field, in the planning and execution of Peace Operations," explained the Mexican Foreign Ministry.
