Introduction A podcast is an audio record of a discussion on a specific topic, like politics, economy, business, or something else that can be listened to. A podcast can be accessed and downloaded from a website and listened to. Podcasts are broken into a series of audio file episodes stored within the hosting company. Criminal is a podcast about crimes that consists of several stories about people who wronged or got caught somewhere in the middle. Episode 158 of the criminal podcast discusses the murderous coup of 1898, its effects, and the Rise of white supremacy. Suitability of the Criminal podcast The criminal podcast is eligible to its listeners since it educates them on the effects of crime and avoiding crime. The podcast is based on true crime stories, making it suitable for listeners since most people enjoy true crime stories. True crime stories allow people to empathize with other humans without experiencing the trauma themselves. The podcast is also suitable since it is deeply sourced, uses original expert reporting such as interviewing onlookers and victims. Besides, the enchanting voice of Phoebe Judge, the host of the criminal podcast, attracts its audience hence making it suitable and exciting. Perhaps the podcast's best achievement is that it is clearly articulated in ethics from its guests as they speak poetically on suffering (Hew, 2019). Themes and aims of criminal podcast episode 158 This episode entitled 'if it ever happens, run' reviews the effects of 1898 elections in Carolinas largest city. White supremacy dominated the city, which led to war between whites and blacks after the elections. The whites supported the Democratic party while the blacks supported the Republican party, which led to violence and rivalry between whites and blacks. The central theme evident in this episode is the theme of war and its impacts. The brutality

from the whites killing the blacks led to the violent overthrow of the United States' elected government. This podcast aims to impose a clear picture to the audience of the consequences of war and racism; it also tackles serious issues in immigration, domestic abuse, brutality, abortion, hate crimes, and the death penalty. This podcast also aims at giving its audience history to at least have a cursory knowledge of the subject at hand. Technical, editing efforts and production methods of the podcast In this podcast Phoebe Judge has used a lot of music to underscore narrative; she has also used background sounds collected simultaneously with the interview tape and Addition of sounds from libraries. This podcast has used music in breaking up segments during the episode. Music in podcasts helps punctuate critical moments in the episodes and add extra emotion to interviews. Podcast editing involves using a Digital Audio Workstation to manipulate and import an audio file of the recorded episode. Editing in this podcast is evident since different speakers have been separated into separate audio tracks by applying editing techniques such as crossfading and compression. There are two types of podcast editing, namely, single track and multi-track editing, whereby single-track editing refers to a single audio track that contains all audio for the episode, while multi track editing is where each track contains a separate and distinct element of the episode that can be manipulated independently. The single track is commonly used when we have only one speaker in the podcast. In contrast, in multiple hosts or guests, we use multi-track editing that embodies each subject to isolate arising issues from each subject. In Addition, the criminal podcast 158 has used several editing and mixing techniques such as amplification. Phoebe Judge's voice is made louder in some instances; furthermore, equalization and normalization have been applied effectively. Volume has also been edited in terms of softness and loudness to improve the quality of the podcast. Podcast production

involves the airing of your podcast to the audience (Kay, 2020). For the successful production of the podcast, the following needs to be considered. First, the host needs to schedule time and knock many podcasts as possible. Book your guests and explain to them about the show during an interview with them. For better results, the host should pre-show the questionnaire to her guests and perform a dramatic performance before airing. The tone of the podcast The tone of voice is how your words come through in written or spoken form. The tone in a story indicates feelings such as humorous, joyful, formal, informal, and sad. In the criminal podcast 158, Phoebe judge uses a sad tone asking her interviewees what they passed through during the war between whites and blacks. Conclusion In conclusion, Podcasting has come to mean more on the delivery of audio content. Podcasting describes both production and consumption of the podcast content. Reference Hew, K. F. (2019).
