Collaborative learning is an essential part of succeeding in online learning. The benefits of collaborative learning are keeping motivation and being able to think about the diversity of thought. The first benefit is that keeping motivation on their own. Online learners can study their pace; It is very flexible and makes it possible to study without quitting their job, but it means that no one cares about your progress of the learning. Keeping motivation is an important point to make your learning success (College success, 2015). Learning with classmates is a way to motivate yourself to succeed in your college learning. The second benefit is that learning the diversity of thought. University of the People (UoPeople) provides us opportunities for community-oriented learning. The most featured learning is the discussion forum. Students of UoPeople are all over the world; It means that the discussion forum is a place to be able to discuss with people who live all over the world. It is an advantage of online learning and could not happen without the internet (Tolu, 2013). Collaborative learning is a way to take advantage of the benefit and student's learning more mature. My past experiences in collaborative learning were not successful. I did not understand why it is necessary and what the benefits are. Fortunately, I learned the importance of collaboration through my working life. All works I have done did not happen without collaboration. I learned a lot of things from my co-workers through collaboration. Through collaborative learning, I believe that students can learn from not only instructors but also other students. Collaborative learning is an essential part of succeeding in online learning, and students can learn the diversity of thought from classmates. References:
