1. What do you know about the Aborigines of Australia? o I don't know much from before, just that it is the indigenous people of Australia and that they were chased away by the English.

2. Explain their way of life/culture before the whites settled. o They’re very similar to other native Americans, they were nomad hunters moving around with seasons, catch animals, and fish around the coast. They were simple people and close to nature, and very spiritual. The human, spiritual and physical world were closely connected. Their values where unselfishness, kinship, religious obligations, possessions. They have no nationality.

3. White settlement in Australia was a catastrophe for the Aborigines. Explain. o There where 300 000-1 mill. aborigines at the time. The British came in 1788 and the aboriginals didn't fight back, because the where not prepared. This was a disaster for the aborigines, a total culture gap, systematic killing and subjugation, civilization and brutal mistreatments in 1920 60 000 left. The British killed them, brutality.

4. What do you know about the Stolen Generations? o Stolen generations is that an entire generation from more than 100 years the Australian decided to take aborigines children from their

families and place them in missions. Half-cast children were removed by force from their families- an official government policy....
