Hannah Arendt – What is Authority? Born 1906 – Studies philosophy from Martin Heidegger “Authority has vanished in the modern world!” Three things have disappeared in the modern world: 1. Authority 2. Tradition 3. Religion Authority is not a form of violence. Authoritarianism has been conflated with totalitarianism under liberalism.
