Description

E-commerce and E-business have been trendy businesses since the technology in the world begin to grow unexpectedly fast. That is why it is important to learn about the definition between E-commerce and E-business in order to get a glimpse of these two kinds of businesses.

E-commerce is when people buy, sell, and transfer or exchange their products through computer networks, including the internet. On the other hand, E-business is a wide version of EC ( Electronic commerce ), and when an organization buys or sell goods and services, also give the service to the customer, collaborate with other organization or partner, conduct e-learning, etc.

Pure and Partial EC depends on the degree of digitation involved because the product, process, and delivery agent can be physical or even digital. Therefore there are three types of organizations. First, Brick-and-mortar organizations → purely physical organizations. For instance, Local grocery stores or shops, and even local markets in the street like Pasar Puri Indah, etc. Second, Virtual Organizations → the company purely works in EC. For example, Tokopedia, etc. Last, Click-and-Mortar organizations → an organizations that conduct some e-commerce activities but most of the business activities perform in the physical world. In addition, LIVELY & Allbirds.

Aside from the concept and the definition of E-commerce, there are also types of E-commerce. First, B2C ( Business to consumer ) → The sellers and the buyers are individual. Second, B2B ( Business to Business ) → Both buyers and sellers are organizations. Third, C2C ( Consumer to consumer ) → one person sells the product to the others without any organization, just between the individuals. Fourth, B2E ( Business to Employee ) → Organization use e-commerce internally to give information and services to their employee and allow employees to manage

their own needs such as taking training classes online, buying discounted insurance, etc. Fifth, E-Goverment → used by the government to spread the information to the public or citizens and also to business partners like suppliers which are called G2B EC ( government-to-business). Sixth, Mobile e-commerce → E-commerce that uses a wireless environment or things. For instance, using applications on handphone to do some shopping like on Amazon. Seventh, Social Commerce → Delivery of the e-commerce activities and transactions through social computing. Last, Conversational Commerce → uses chat or messages to offer products, services, etc. For example, Using WhatsApp or Line to promote HIMSISFO products.

BENEFITS AND THE LIMITATIONS OF E-COMMERCE & E-BUSINESS Besides the definition, concept, or the types of e-commerce, there are also a are few benefits of E-commerce and E-business. First, Benefits for the organization → reduce the cost for the organization to do a process, distribution, and retrieve the information. Also, gain the flexibility to access the international & national market. Second, Benefits to customers → People can search what are the needs of their product and services 24 / 7 or every day, anytime, and anywhere. Third, Benefits to the society → gain easier access for sending information, products, and services to rural areas and developing countries. On the other hand, there are also drawbacks for E-commerce and E-business. First, Limited Technology → because not all of the areas or developing countries have the technology to access e-commerce and e-business especially in rural areas. Also, it requires a lot of money to expand the accessibility further. Second, Non-limited Technology → Even the one that has access to e-commerce still has doubt in the system because it could be insecure, also since it is electronic commerce, it could be hacked too. Furthermore, e-commerce and e-business have lacked a critical mass of buyers and sellers.

In conclusion, These days technology has already brought us to where e-commerce and e-business grow unexpectedly high especially since every people can access it 24 / 7. Furthermore, when there is a huge development, it could be also high risk in this development of businesses. Therefore that is why we need to learn more about these two kinds of businesses in order to understand it.
