Summary

An essay about what I learn in Sociology class...

Description

WDA 9 This Sociology course has taught me many new things that I never know. It makes me feel like Sociology is a must take course for everybody. Learning sociology is a way to understand the society and people around you. The most important thing I have learned in this course is gender role and the inequality of it. Although my favorite chapter is 14 but learning about gender role is important because there is so much inequality these days and people are working on it. Even though it seems literally impossible for both genders to be equal due to the biological influences but it is less sexist than how it is used to be. It is important for people to acknowledge about gender and do something with it. My favourite chapter overall is chapter 14 because it is a study of the family and the intimate relationships. It is important to not study only about the society but also about the small parts of it like families or minority groups. After taking this class, I have learned stuff that is very valuable to our society. I hope to take more sociology courses in the future. Learning about how women and men should be treated equally is a must to our society and I am willing to fight for it such as encouraging women to have their own careers and be independent, encouraging men to show their feelings instead of hiding it. Chapter three is also my favourite because it is about the cultures and development of ethnicity all around the world. It teaches people about other cultures where there are different values, ideas, beliefs, customs so people can learn about others rather than just what is familiar with themselves. Studying sociology is one way to understand the surroundings and the people in it. It is necessary for everyone to put themselves in other’s shoes to understand the differences....
