Surname 1 Name Tutor Course Date Advantages and disadvantages of lingual Franca We all enjoy communicating with one another. Since the world has many languages, it is only common that people of different languages will interact and they will need to communicate. However, it is not possible for each one to talk using their native languages and expect everyone to understand. This then means that lingual Franca is necessary. The ability of people to talk in a dialect that everyone around them understands, or at least grasps is enabled by the practice of lingual Franca. This paper will explore the advantages and disadvantages of lingual Franca in the society. Advantages One obvious reason is that lingual Franca enables communication between people of different cultures. Most of the time, people of different culture have different dialects. The school is an example of a place that carries people of different cultures. Human beings are created to be interactive and social in nature. This aspect can however only be achieved if people talk to each and relate in an understandable manner. This is why in America, most of the time, people speak English. Those from the Latin American countries are also forced to speak English so that they can be understood and even get jobs. Of course if they insist on speaking Latina, they wouldn’t even be understood and as such may not be given any attention. Additionally, the practice of lingual Franca helps in promoting a calm and tension-free environment. When two people begin to speak their native language in the midst of people who

Other may feel that they are disrespected and disregarded. It also possible for others to feel alone and ignored. As such, a common language will promote a peaceful and happy environment where everyone feel comfortable. Disadvantages The first and key disadvantage of lingual Franca is that it promotes loss of culture. Once a person is used to speaking a common language, he or she may abandon his language. Anyway, if he does not abandon his language, who will understand him? So it is likely that one will lose the sense of cultural language when they adapt to the use of lingual Franca. A loss of language can lead to loss of many cultural aspects. For instance, when a person loses his language, he may not find it easy to carry out some activities or norms that are linked to his culture. The person may feel awkward participating in his cultural events while speaking a different language. Conclusion To sum up, it is worth noting that lingual Franca is important in any society. This follows the fact that humans need to interact and communicate almost all the time. It is the wish of everyone to be understood and heard. Therefore, lingual Franca is the best option. However, it cannot be ignored that culture plays an important role in the lives of humans and must also be preserved. Therefore, it is important for people to come up with ways that can encourage the practice of lingual Franca while also promoting the conservation of one’s culture....
