Outline: Topic: Ghosts exist Introduction: Have you ever felt that chill in spine while sitting and drinking coffee in the evening on your lawn or porch or got that eerie feeling as if somebody is standing right behind you? I’m Sumila Shrestha and today, I’m doing a persuasive speech on ghosts. People die but where do they go? There has been a debate on where the soul goes or do they even exist. We do not know that yet. But if you talk about ghosts, I’m sure at least one in your group will come up with some stories of some paranormal activities that they have experienced or somebody they know have experienced it. Body: I will start with my recent experiences. I was babysitting this 11 years old girl in her house for couple of days while her parents were travelling. At around 11pm, while we were watching TV, we heard some loud footsteps from our ceiling right above where we were sitting. I did a random comment saying, well somebody walks like an elephant. The 11 years old said that it happens a lot and she’s not scared anymore. She also added that it usually happens late at night on which she often wakes up. I tried to convince her that some people don’t know how to walk so she just should ignore it. Then she mentioned that nobody lives up there. I felt butterflies in my stomach. So, just to convince her, I decided to go upstairs with her and knock at the door of that apartment. While we were climbing up, we saw that there was a duct tape on the stairs blocking the stairs with a notice stating no further steps beyond this. I still decided to go beyond that and opened the door of the fourth floor. But the door was locked from inside. We went all the way

down to watch that particular apartment of that floor. To my horror, no fourth floor existed there. The whole building was built up to third floor only. I didn’t want to go up anymore after that. I am going to tell yet another recent experience that I had faced. Last lunar eclipse when there was red moon, I came out of my friend’s house at around 2:30am. It was so cold that I could ice coat on the top of my car. I sat in my car and tried to hit it up a little bit. I suddenly heard footsteps passing through my car. I immediately looked out to see who was walking. It was a very quiet night with absolutely nobody out there. There was no one. What I heard was somebody walking slippers. I froze in my car. I heard the same footsteps walking back to the direction it went from again. I freaked out and looked for my cell phone. I tried to call my friend. But to add up that horror, it went out of battery and got switched off. I could no move. I kept hearing that noise for an hour until 3:30am clearly. I kept praying. I could not drive as I was so scared. I sat there still until 5:30 am in the morning until the first thin line of day light showed up. Research: People have done various research and discovered different ways to confirm the existence of spirits. One strategy used to demonstrate phantoms exist would be electronic fields. Electronic fields can be identified with an electromagnetic field (EMF). An EMF is an electronic gadget used to recognize defective wiring in family units and electromagnetic fields, however phantom fan utilize it as a meter to tell if an apparition is in their quality or not. There have even been cameras made for entirely scanning for evidence of phantom. One of these would be a full range camera which takes pictures in every single light range, from ultra violet to infrared. They expect this will give them a greater extent of possibility of capturing a decent picture of what could be a soul, since we don't realize what range phantom would use to appear to us in.

A study done by The Atlantic states that a British tourist visiting the historic island-prison of Alcatraz in San Francisco claimed that she captured an image of ghost, a picture of an empty prison cell with a blurry black and white image of a woman. The story became so famous that it was published in newspapers and featured in TV shows. Conclusion: Rumors do not just spread. Something happens, then people talk about it. They may exaggerate the story but the point is people talk because something happened. After my experiences, I strongly believe in spirits and the paranormal activities.
