PERSUASIVE SPEECH OUTLINE TOPIC ISSUE

PURPOSE

:Social Media Safety Should Be Teached To Schoolers. :The lack of awareness of the danger that social media can cause to the youngsters and what the dangers can do to the teens if any prevention did not occur. :To convince the audience to think about how social media can become a dangerous place for their children and to persuade these adults to take compulsory acts to make sure the schoolers have a better future.

I. INTRODUCTION Attention Getter

:Social media is defined by the Oxford Reference as "websites and applications that allow users to create and share content or engage in social networking". There are a variety of social networks to choose from; some of the most popular ones include Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram. Despite the popularity of social media networks spreading all over the world, mixed feelings have been expressed about them and how they affect youth. So, what are the effects of social media on youth? What contributes to the youth being addicted to social media? Why are they able to live their lives like this through the internet?

Thesis Statement

: Adults are responsible to make sure that the schoolers keep their behavior in a good way by identifying what the issues could happen by using social media, acknowledge what are the factors of the problems and take the right precautionary actions to make a better future for the children.

Preview Of the Main Points

:Today I want to urge you to understand the issue of social media and it safety. We will look at what the dangers are that teens face when on social media, what causes those dangers, and what possible solutions are to remedy these threats. Firstly, I will highlight some issues related to social media among the youngsters. Secondly, I will present some factors that lead to the causes of being addicted to social media. Finally, there are several solutions I will offer in the form of actions or precautions that can be taken to avoid the dangers of social media.

I. BODY 1.0 Topic Sentence 1: First and foremost, social media can have some risks and issues that nowaday teenagers have to face. 1.1 Using social media can also be detrimental to teens, as it can distract them, disrupt their sleep, and expose them to bullying, rumor spreading, unrealistic views of others and peer pressure. 1.1.1 In a 2019 U.S. study of more than 6,500 12- to 15-year-olds, it was found that those who used social media for more than three hours a day might have an increased risk of mental illness.(Mayo Clinic Staff, 2022) 1.1.2 A 2016 study of more than 450 teens found that increased use of social media, time spent using social media at night, and emotional involvement in social media were each linked to poorer sleep and significantly higher levels of anxiety and depression. (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2022) 1.2 Meanwhile, the internet is an unregulated world that is devoid of morals or laws. 1.2.1 A major threat on the internet is pornography via text, pictures, audio and video, but it seems very difficult to prevent its spread through social media, while it is possible to identify the sources and shut them down. (Mustafa, 2021) 1.2.2 Children can be negatively influenced by social media contents that promote the use and abuse of potentially hazardous substances and drugs in human health, attempts by seemingly friendly terrorist organizations to deceive individuals and increase their popularity among young people, and other troubling sharings about human factors commonly found on social media platforms, thus leading to child abuse and sexual exploitation.(Mustafa, 2021)

Transition: Now that I've shown you the problems with the social media , I will now share some factors that are related to the issues of social media. 2.0 Topic Sentence 2: Next there are some elements that occurred to be in several problems. 2.1 Due to the development of computer, Internet, and mobile technology and their affordability, social media have become widely used. 2.1.1 People are increasingly using social media for the purpose of researching, learning, discussing and sharing the values of the society that they live in because these human needs are not met by a family and the environment that a city life shapes.(Mustafa, 2021) 2.1.2 Surfing and finding friends on social media make children addicted to the internet environment, and their exposure to unwanted content and interaction while hiding their age and identity can be very dangerous for them. (Mustafa, 2021) 2.2 Poor social relationships and isolation are likely to lead young people to use social media and become addicted 2.2.1 Through social media, young people were seeking acceptance in ways such as updating statuses frequently on Facebook, expressing their emotions on Twitter, or posting photos on Instagram.(Yap Jing Xuan, et al, 2020)

Transition: Now that I've highlighted factors that lead to social media issues , let me now offer solutions to reduce the danger of social media. 3.0 Topic Sentence 3: Finally, at every level, solutions are of particular importance in the action to make social media safe among the youngsters. 3.1 By tackling the issue head-on, parents and educators can limit incidents and issues 3.1.1 By providing a way to report issues, students need to know who they can reach out to when an issue arises for them on social media or when they are victims of such an issue.(Kelly,2014) 3.1.2 This should be done in a clear and direct manner when the students advise their teachers, and they will alert the principal directly.(Kelly,2014) 3.1.3 An anonymous approach might also be a good option for those who are hesitant to discuss their concerns or problems.(Kelly,2014) 3.2 Youngsters should set reasonable limits for longing in every social media everyday 3.2.1 Encourage a bedtime routine that avoids electronic media use, and keep cell phones and tablets out of teens' bedrooms. (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2022)

Ill. CONCLUSION Review of the Main : 1.Today, I first highlighted the problems that happened in social media. Points 2.Second, I shared the factors that cause the issues of social media among teens. 3. Finally, I have described to you a number of actions that school can take to diminish social media problems in youngsters. Restate the thesis statements

:In conclusion, we have discussed why teens should be better informed about the dangers of social media. As we have seen, the issue is a lack of education, but we have also seen how we can address this problem. The dangers of the internet must be more widely recognized by teens today. Social media is an important tool for teens to use, but we must make sure that their safety and wellbeing are protected as well.
