The speaker’s main point was there’s always more than one side to a story. Single stories create stereotypes that are incomplete. One story is not enough to represent a group of people. When people think there's only one story, that one story becomes the only one.

6. ETHOS is the speaker’s attempt to establish their expertise and bona fides. How does the speaker build their ethos that they have the audience’s best interests at heart? You may want to consult their profile information too. As a negarian writer she experience effects of stereotyping when she moved to the states. She establishes the audience's trust by telling her experience when she wrote as a child, her experience in writing and speaking and her personal struggles. She gave all the real facts that describe single stories.

7. PATHOS is emotional appeal built into the speech. LOGOS is the use of data and evidence to prove one’s case. What was the balance of the two techniques in their speech? What was their best argument and point? Why was it so compelling? She displays her emotions by sharing stories with the audience like when she talks about a personal story, Fide(the helper) and his family. She talks about how everybody called him poor and she couldn't see another story for them. “Their poverty was my story for them”. She uses logos as examples of African people who have brought innovation and development in their fields. She also

talks about her roommate who felt pity for her because she was African. She talks about her emotions to the audience so they can feel what she feels.
