Good Island In the book”The Lord of the Flies” by William Golding a group of kids crash land on an island which they find to be very good, they have no grown-ups, plenty of food, and an amazing opportunity to mature. The island is considered good because there are no grown-ups. When the kids are searching around the scar, Ralph says, "No grownups!”(Golding 2). This shows that the island is good because there are no grownups to tell them no. The island is considered good because they have a water source. When Ralph and Piggy were exploring the Island they come across a pool and the narrator says, “But the island ran true to form and the incredible pool, which clearly was only invaded by the sea at high tide, was so deep at one end as to be dark green”(Golding 5). This shows that the island is good because they have plenty of water to drink from when they have to. The island is considered good because they get an opportunity to mature. When the boys have their first meeting Ralph says, "Listen, everybody. I've got to have time to think things out. I can't decide what to do straight off” (Golding 11). This shows that the island is good because the young boys get to mature while alone on an island. The island is good because there are no grown-ups, they have a stable water supply, and have a good opportunity to mature in the book “Lord of the Flies” by William Golding.
