1. What are five ways in which Google Docs can help your team accomplish work more efficiently, even when you’re not in the same room together? - Reduce duplicate work and grow the document faster - Share with anyone, even if remote and different locations - Edit in real time - Chat and comment - Safe storage and backup 2. Is Google Docs open source software? Open source refers to any software whose source code is made available for free (not a fee or licensing basis as in e-business) for any third party to review and modify. Although google docs is free it is not open sourced because you cannot change the source code and is not open to change. 3. Why would putting ‘being able to use Google Docs and Microsoft Office’ on your resume help to differentiate your skills? Use of public sharing and updating of documents, greater understanding of common access and naming of files and folders which would be understood by other users. Google docs enables collaboration and team work, so for example, in a meeting multiple people could take notes and share the information to collaborate together. 4. What other applications does Google create that you are interested in learning to help collaborate and communicate with your peers and co-workers? Docs, slides, sheets, forms, maps and drawings. 5. Google Docs was one of the first-movers in the online sharing of documents. Who are its competitors? What features have developed because of this competition? Competitors - Dropbox Paper is a collaborative document editing platform in your browser. It lets you edit a document in real time with your Dropbox contacts. - Zoho is a free multi-lingual suite of online office applications/services that stores documents and data online on their servers which can be accessed from anywhere. You sign up for and access your documents from their Website. Organisations have to pay a fee to use the applications however. - Amazon’s Zocalo - a document storage and collaboration service for the enterprise. As you might expect for a Google Docs competitor, Zocalo enables users to store documents, sync them across devices, follow audit trails, and more. Folks can also offer coworkers feedback on content, affixing comments to specific areas of a shared PDF or webpage, for example. - Microsoft's Office Web Apps let you edit documents, spreadsheets, and presentations from its web interface, designed after the Office desktop programs. It has the ribbon, built-in support for Microsoft SkyDrive, and tons of collaboration features for working on

documents with your friends and co-workers. Plus, since it's made by Microsoft, compatibility with Office documents is top-notch, which you won't get with Google Docs. Features that have developed from this competition Google Sheets Google Slides Google Forms...
