Thuy Vy Pham Coms 020 Tribute Speech Outline Introduction Attention getter: What is your first impression of me? Do you think I am an extrovert? It is difficult to know others well because there are many different types of people in the world. What and why: Each person has their own personalities as well as their strengths, abilities, weaknesses, and faults. For me, it is important to know others’ beliefs and personality traits in order to build strong personal relationships or business relationships. Logical orientation: Today I will talk about three important things about me. The first thing is who I am, which includes how I define myself as a person and my definition of success. The second thing is my important accomplishments and challenges, and the last one is my long term goals and short term goals in the future. Body I. Who you are A. -

How do you describe yourself as a person I am an introvert. I am comfortable to focus on my inner thoughts and ideas. I often spend

time doing introspection to understand myself better and get positive energy. I prefer individual work rather than teamwork since working alone helps me increase my creativity and work productivity. -

Besides, I am a responsible person. When I promise to do something, I always try my best to

fulfill my promise. I am also willing to accept the results of my decisions without blaming anyone for my problems.

B. What is your definition of success Success is being myself and overcoming my fears. -

There is no need to become what other people want me to be. Following my heart, listening

to my inner voice, and staying true to myself is the greatest success in my life. -

Besides, controlling and conquering my fears is also my success since it helps me relieve

stress, get more energy and fulfill my potential. II. Your challenges and accomplishments A. Describe one of your important accomplishments. -

My important accomplishment is winning a prize in the singing competition at my high

school. I was not confident to sing on the stage but I decided to join in the singing competition. -

When I stood on the stage, I took a deep breath and tried to get rid of my nervousness. I

focused on singing without paying attention to others. Finally, I overcame my fears and won the third place in the competition. B. Describe a recent conflict or challenge (or a difficult obstacle) and explain how you resolved it (or how you overcame it)? -

One of my greatest challenges is speaking English. I have faced some problems in speaking

English such as lack of vocabulary, weird accents, and fears of making mistakes. -

I found effective methods to help me overcome my obstacles including taking courage to

speak English without caring for mistakes every time, and practicing English everyday by watching English movies, listening to English songs, and talking to native speakers. III. Who you are becoming A. What are some of your short term goals?

-

My short term goal is changing my part time job. I want to get an accounting internship in

the next 6 months to gain working experience in the accounting field, develop important skills, and build a strong resume. -

Besides, I want to have a healthy lifestyle. I will eat more healthy food like fruits, vegetables,

fish, and avoid fast foods and processed foods. Besides, I will engage in physical activities such as swimming, walking, and hiking. B. What are some of your long term goals? -

My long term goal is getting CPA certification in the next 4 years. CPA certification provides

me a chance to get a job promotion, earn a higher salary, and earn respect from clients and coworkers. -

Besides, I set a goal that by the age of 40, I will travel to at least 5 countries in Europe and

Asia such as Switzerland, France, Italy, Korea, and Japan… by the age of 35. Conclusion -

Logical Review: Today, I have shared with you important things about myself including my

personal traits, my own definition of success, my greatest achievements and hardships, and my long term goals and short term goals. -

What and Why: Hopefully, my speech can make us become closer and help you understand

me better. -
