Speech 001 07/19/2020 Self-Reflection Essay It was difficult for me to reflect on my informative speech video. I felt I did an excellent job of delivering the speech by practicing and memorizing the speech beforehand. In reality, viewing my speech again, I did a horrible job. My eye contact was not affluent as I wanted it to be. I was looking everywhere. I noticed when I get nervous; I tend to look around and not focus on the audience. Although the audience was staring and talking to my computer, knowing the class and professor was going to watch made me more nervous. I improved with my voice projection from the introduction speech and showed more of my body recommended by Professor Carter. I need to improve on my eye contact as Cindy mentions and use more hand gestures recommended by Lauren and articulate clearly on the next speech. Using note cards would help the next speech with the main points and keep me from straying around trying to remember the speech. I also need to practice more, looking straight at the computer so that I can confidently deliver the speech. I tend to stutter when I lose my place in the speech and rush, thinking no one will notice my mistakes. In the next speech, when I lose my train of thought, I should relax more, take a deep breath, pause for a little to collect my ideas, and come back to where I left off instead of mumbling and rushing it. I also need more facial expression and feel enthusiastic to engage the audience about my topic. Overall on the next speech, I need to focus on giving more eye contact, use more hand gestures, and facial expression, articulate clearly and take pauses between transitions to have my speech flow in a conversational tone. With lots of practice and preparedness, I can do well on the

next speech and hope to captive the audience by engaging them in the topic that I am going to present....
