Reflection in TED Talk...

Description

The talk of Amber Quinney is my chosen video that I want to react on. I was amazed how she started her introduction. When she said there was something happened in her life, that her 30 days social media break became 60 days to 6 months. I feel unbelievable that she was able to do that because honestly I am addicted to social media especially in facebook. When I heard those words I was encouraged and motivated to continue and finish the video. While I was watching her speech I really feel her dedication of what she's talking. Her eyes and expressions persuade me to focus on her, to understand her message and to do something. Her tone of voice and posture made her more confident. The way she delivered her message was so engaging and serious with a bit of humor. The talk is based off of her recent research and explores the negative effects on the brain of over saturation of social media exposure and addiction. She explores the critical role that social media and media stimulation plays in our everyday lives. She said that academic performance, income level and self confidence or self image of oneself can be affected by the social media. The social media affects our behavior. Based on her study, there are three negative effects of social media. Firstly, social media has created this fake world a perfection. We judge only by what we see online if she's gorgeous and ugly. But she told "We shouldn't judge the person in online life. We don't know her offline life reality." Second, social media taught us to constantly be seeking social validation. Most of the people make their true dentity differ from online. Others are posting to gain likes and attention. We compare ourselves to others because they believe that they can gain confidence from social media but Amber emphasis "True confidence is something grows from the inside not online." Lastly, social media has program does to think less. Instead of training their brains to gain knowledge practically, they go easily ccessing and depending on google. Overall, social media is killing our social capital as society one like at a time. I elaborated her message because I remember those words from her. I love those wisdom words so that they're still remain in my mind. She's not against in social media, she's just conscious of what might happen if we get addicted to it. I thought that her talk is all about the negative effects of social media, but she stated the advantages. She claimed that we can use social media for social good and to act value. Since she is a marketer and content writer she uses social media meaningful. We can use social media in personal branding. Social media such as facebook and instagram are the best ways to promote and develop your brands. Also, social networking is a great tool to help everyone explore your network. This is a way to connect easily to our love ones especially during this pandemic. Even they are far from us we can access to internet to communicate with them. But in using social media we have to be very careful and choose only selective people that we are connect to. It's because not everyone has a good intention. What I like the most is

how she end her speech. She gave an advice on how to have a better online experiences. These are the positive purpose, learn to like yourself first and cut back. She gave a remarkable introduction and conclusion. She started with a bang and end with a bang. The speech of Amber Quinney made me realized that it will make you lose yourself if you get addicted to it. Her talk about social media is real. It happens in reality, some are using social media in bad things. I usually sleep at midnight because of scrolling in facebook, instagram and messenger. I was hit by the words she threw because honestly social media influenced my identity and personality. I end up use and count on social media to comfort my hurt feelings and find happiness instead of interact with my love ones. I spend more time with social media than communicating with my family. But I can't do the social media break right now because I'm having my online class as the new mode of learning. What I should do is use social media meaningful to have a positive purpose. I don't want to live my life revolves and covered with social media....
