Description

Spaces and exchanges First of all, I’m going to define the notion “spaces and exchanges”. An exchange is an act of giving and receiving, this can be anything from money, ideas, gifts, medical or financial aid. Indeed, there are different types of exchanges: cultural, digital and commercial. There are also different types of spaces: geographical with the exploration and conquest of new spaces and virtual like internet which allows to reduce spatial distances. I will illustrate this notion with the example of the new technology through the problematic “to what extent new technologies can represent a new space of communication and exchanges?”. Indeed, our modern world is changing quickly and seems to be a smaller space due to improvements in technology. During many years, research and experiences of many scientists has result in technology advances. I take for example Internet. First, we’ll see how internet facilitates the communication abroad in professional life and in daily life and then we’ll see that this new space of communication can be dangerous. Internet was created in the seventies and has revolutionized the world. Almost everything we do in our life today, from communication, study, work and leisure, needs the Internet. It is fast and simple to use. On the one hand, in professional life internet allows to work abroad without moving. For example, telecommuting is a modern trend which consists in working from home with computers and internet. This new way of working represents a new space of exchanges. You can communicate and work with people all around the word staying at home. It easier and faster to communicate and the world seems smaller. However, telecommuting reduce communication with natives you don’t meet people physically and you can’t share their culture or learn their traditions. Therefore, with telecommuting you are not immersed in the special atmosphere of the place and feel new emotions. On the other hand, in everyday life with internet you can chat, communicate very easily and quickly with friends next door or all over the world especially thanks to social networks like Facebook or tweeter. Moreover, with the social networks the young people can play at video games online, share photos, videos and express their creativity. Thanks to internet we can see emerging a new generation of creative young people. However, even if internet constitutes an enormous revolution it can also represent a danger. For example, when you use internet for online transaction, there is always a possibility of being a victim of online fraud. To conclude, we can say that the new technologies constitute a new space of communication and exchanges because nowadays communication between different countries is almost instantaneous without moving. Moreover, internet and social networks are not naturally dangerous but it’s the use people make of them that can be dangerous....
